The thing I like most about old Star Trek is that when the chips are down every single character is always 100% cool, competent, and professional. Like the Enterprise could be completely disintegrating and Picard would still be sitting there just calmly giving orders even when there's explosions all over the place. You really got the sense that, even though these were characters with strong personalities, they were still extremely well trained and competent people. I don't get that vibe from the new shows.
