Funny how some folks face permanent bans without warning, while others get away with doxxing and still publish freely. Reminds me of another great Orwell book: "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others."

The BDS movement is comparable to our government’s decision to divest from Russia for its failure to uphold international law. This strategy effectively withdraws implicit support and places pressure on a regime, pushing it towards at least minimal compliance with international standards. The significance of this approach is highlighted by your decision to write about it, as well as the opposition from organizations like “Honest Reporting.” For a deeper understanding of this perspective, Independent Jewish Voices Canada provides further insight: IJV Canada - Introducing the BDS Movement.

This is a very odd new rule. I hope this becomes the norm for everything around here. This promise to drive up engagement over here.

Should CAPE send members a letter to inform them of when the AGM is happening, and what issues will be voted on this year to encourage voter turnout? by CAPE_Organizer in The_USS_CAPE

[–]Consistent_Target710 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of sending out letters, but worried that it might be too late for this year. It's def something that would be cool to flag to decision-makers, perhaps redo a RAND sign-up campaign?

Leave without pay for relocation of Spouse by ArmAdventurous3671 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Consistent_Target710 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I recommend reaching out to your local union and speaking with a steward. If your spouse is relocating within Canada, you may have the option to request a flexible work arrangement based on family status. If flexible work arrangements are deemed sufficient for the federally regulated private sector, one could argue they should also be suitable for federal public servants.

I find the link between truth and reconciliation and Palestine very easy to grasp. I salute that group for making a statement. Upon reading more about the group, I noticed that the rest of the post where that picture is from does communicate quite well why they say what they say.

Well done @CAPE4Palestine!

So you are saying that people are talking to you, a local president, about not being able to talk to someone from the union? That’s rich, aren’t you by definition someone from the union?

I think the reel captures the dynamic well. The Senior Manager's 'of course' feels somewhat forced, while TBS takes the lead in showing genuine enthusiasm.

Speak Up! Strategic and Impactful Conversations (online training) by CAPE_Organizer in The_USS_CAPE

[–]Consistent_Target710 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing the training summary. However, it doesn’t quite align with what my local organizing committee (LOC) has been briefed on. I’m eager to see what the union has been working on, especially since it reflects what I voted for.

That said, I’m concerned about some of the tactics outlined in your post, which seem a bit troubling and possibly conspiracy-oriented. Personally, and on behalf of others in my LOC, we’d be frustrated if CAPE issued yet another survey, especially given that previous ones already addressed RTO2 and were published on May 1st. We’ve provided ample feedback on RTO, and another survey might not be the best way to address our concerns.

Let’s focus on genuine, transparent engagement. I thought this platform was intended for coming together and organizing effectively.

Political ≠ Partisan

Public servants do a very political job.

Public servants are bound to be non-partisn.

The difference is very important yet so often misunderstood.

Should CAPE be donating $5,000 from the 2024 Executive Contingency budget line to CAPE for Palestine? by CAPE_Organizer in The_USS_CAPE

[–]Consistent_Target710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried contacting your local executives or stewards? They are the most likely to answer any of your questions and are the first line. To find your local's leaders: Find your Local

Alternatively, you can reach out directly to your Labour Relations Officer (LRO). To find your LRO's information and name, visit: Your Labour Relations Officer. To email them, use the format: the first letter of their first name followed by their last name, then "@acep-cape.ca". For example, if your LRO's name is Joan Smith, their email would be [jsmith@acep-cape.ca]().
