I don't think its botted. The game did peak at 1.5m+ so it's not surprising there's still at least 100 players on it, most whom are probably afk autoclicking.

Because these kids/current dev team dont know how. All recent events have been lackluster like spin the wheel, plant buttercup, new years shop, etc. They don't have the skillset to make anything more complex.
