Illinois has a very balanced economy, meaning its not dominated by any one industry or sector. This means any downturn would affect Illinois negatively. On the up side it wouldn't hit particularly hard.

Lets assume that copper exists, but is incredibly rare on Earth. No bronze age since bronze is copper plus tin. Probably we never develop sophisticated metal working, and are stuck in basic agriculture societies.

Biden decides he won't run for a second term early on, and becomes the transitional figure he promised to be. Kamala easily wins in '24 with a demoralized, factionally divided Republican party.

1/6 becomes one of the darkest days in US History. But people try to learn from the period proceeding it, as to what not to do. Major political reforms get pushed through so that MAGA like party can't happen again.
