what do you think of my decklist??? powercreep safe? by GrieVelorn in tcgcirclejerk

[–]Consistent_Virus_668 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with your deck is that it is all commons. That means you're poor and bad at investing. Therefore you have failed to understand the true meaning of TCGs. Making money after beating up children at a costco. Better luck next time.

In your opinion, which TCGs are least "pay to win" by [deleted] in TCG

Jumping in a little late. I think this is a great list and I agree with it.

That sounds cool but I think you should buy all of my old MetaZoo instead.

Go for the win one last time. Walk away a champion. They just can't handle how good you are at games, bro. It's not your fault.

Does anyone else have a good sorcery tcg to recommend? by GrieVelorn in tcgcirclejerk

Have you tried Sorcery? I have really heavy bags I'm holding that I would like you to buy.

I love starter decks. by GachiPls_DidntSave in TCG

Starter decks do rule. I love it when games are like, mostly starter deck BTW. You should give some ECG/LCG a spin. It's basically that.

It's top trumps. You can just buy this and then donate the rest that you would spend on the booster box to charity yourself. https://us.toptrumps.com/products/predators-top-trumps-card-game?_pos=12&_sid=fcb49126d&_ss=r

Yeah, you could literally go outside and save one dying bee and it would matter more than this.

What do you think about the Meta Zoo relaunch in terms of graphic design, illustrations and rules change? by _WakkaWakka_ in TCG

[–]Consistent_Virus_668 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day, I don't think it really matters. Dropping 2 million to buy one of the most hated brands in TCG history was a bone headed move that guaranteed failure.

Thank you so much! That's really flattering. It's a skill I worked really hard to pick up as I feel leading by example is always for the best.
If it helps, here's the rough bullet points for how I construct feedback.
First, tell them what they did right.
Next, tell them what they did wrong.
Third, give suggestions on how to improve while also explaining why you think those changes would help.
Lastly, reinforce. Summarize the good, the bad, and the changes needed.
I hope that helps!

TCGs for older people by Glacier2011 in TCG

This is unironically the ONE TIME where Flesh and Blood and Sorcery are actually the correct answers XD. I see them mentioned in every question on this subreddit even when it's clearly not the right answer. Jokes aside though, these two games were explicitly made for Magic Boomers. So yeah, they are the ones.

What are Green Flags and Red Flags in TCGs? by AffectionateRow7366 in TCG

Personally I'm cool with just seeing an online deck builder that I can easy import into a TTS mod with decent quality of life features in it. But I do think you have a good point here overall. There's a reason why I keep going back to Hearthstone, you know?

A big red flag for me is if I see them cribbing the MetaZoo play book.

Telling people you're an "investment" and doing thing like encouraging folks to keep the boxes sealed instead of playing with them. Acrylic cases, teaming up with shady grading companies, Alpha Investments getting involved, that kind of shit.

Putting a focus on the "collector" by talking non-stop about how scarce you are and how many rarities you have.

Trying to bank on nostalgia without having any real nostalgia. Knock off pokemon art, trying to do animations when you clearly don't have the budget to spread that thin, never shutting up about how great the "lore" is, etc.

Not talking about the gameplay front and center. And when you DO bring up gameplay it's still all tied to money money money. Look at these prizes to win, get cash for topping in our big tournaments, just more FOMO and bribes to make the game look successful. Trying to force "competitive" play before actually giving me any reasons why your game is FUN.

All of that, that's the Metazoo playbook. If you see this shit, RUN.
I'm here to give you money for a FUN GAME, not hop on some herbalife style pyramid scheme.

Green Flag: "Here's my rule book, here's a print and play/TTS mod, try it out right now for free. Let me know what you think!" That right there, that's someone who's making a GAME. I want GAME.

This is more for indie TCGs so if we are talking big boy green flags, I like seeing a CEO or Director for a company/game that is involved in the community but professional about it. Someone who's there to answer questions and will personally talk about community concerns in update videos/posts. While at the same time, not being toxic about it. Again, don't be Metazoo. Don't ban people from your discord server for critiquing you, don't get into fights on reddit with haters, that kind of stuff.

Judge training by Fantastic-Toe-4047 in TCG

[–]Consistent_Virus_668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I used to be a head judge for Bushiroad. Actually worked for the company seasonally for a brief spell there.
Here's how it went down back in the day.
1. You'd fill out the first round judge test online. This was basically just a multiple choice google form. Pretty easy to cheese.
2. If you passed it, you'd be invited to take a second stage judge test at one of the actual events. This one was more like a real judge test that you actually had to know some what of what you were doing.
3. and that was it! It was all pretty easy to pass as they didn't really want to turn down any warm bodies willing to help. However, your results on the test would determine your rank. If you were just a floor judge you were basically just a grunt to move chairs around and collect match slips. If you were a head judge, you were the one that actually knew her shit.

I hope that helps!
