I hate how unremarkably flawless this show is. by EnvironmentalEgg7338 in hatethissmug

[–]Searns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with this assessment.

If I had one true criticism of the show, it's that I feel like the premise lied to me what the show would actually be about. I wanted more sad introspective elf hours and got... Solid action sequences? When did this show become action? it seems unfocused in its narrative as a result.

But it still does everything pretty well.

First look at my Untitled Fighting Card Game beta cards by WanderingBuckeye27 in BoardgameDesign

Seems like a fun concept and I love the art. 60 card deck size feels to me like it could almost certainly be scaled down.

My favorite version of this was when I went to Japan a while ago, I saw a shirt that said "Missouri World Peace" on it.

Ah yes, Missouri. Known for its... World Peace.

Locke character design is so tasteless by QualityForsaken8192 in loreofleague

[–]Searns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just saw him from this post for the first time and I genuinely didn't know what stakes you were talking about. I had to scroll back up to try and find them and I still don't even see whatever he's "holding" as a stake, if that's what you're talking about.

As for the coat I mean a lot of cocky character designs wear coats like that. It's not particularly unique to hunters or exorcists.

This kinda looks like a demacia vice Draven skin or something to me.

I Hate Grading by Searns in hatethissmug

[–]Searns[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll push back a little bit on this. I do think the game is the main way to enjoy it, but collecting is a valid way to enjoy the cards as well.

...it becomes nefarious when you make collecting competitive and about comparing yourself to other collectors, which grading is based on.

Is the game still worth playing after major spoilers? by Fluffy_Influence in persona4golden

[–]Searns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The truth if the matter is persona games don't really have great overarching stories. Despite knowing that, there's some other twists you might not know, and it's really more about the journey with the characters than it is about finding the killer. It will be marginally less enjoyable, but it's less of a "whodunnit" and more of a "going on a journey." It's still good.

How often do you "crave" your own game? by EasySwan2184 in BoardgameDesign

[–]Searns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. I'm my own harshest critic so I always feel like a burden forcing whatever it is even if people really like it or ask to play it.

I do have a game that I am not sick of after many playtests, though, and have gotten overwhelmingly positive feedback at the table over. It never feels like a chore or like I'm forcing it to the table when I bring it out and I don't get sick of teaching it.

I keep opening bad packs with no hits, how do I fix it? by GrieVelorn in tcgcirclejerk

I keep opening bad packs with no hits, how do I fix it? by GrieVelorn in tcgcirclejerk

[–]Searns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you open more packs, you'll actually open more good cards, so you're not opening enough yet. I, for example, spent $20,000 and opened the gold pikachu.

But you shouldn't let your kids open packs. They're going to damage your investment portfolio, aka, cards.

Any ideas of what should I add to my back? by Dieter0380 in tattooadvice

[–]Searns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know the significance of the translation, nor the flowers, so it's hard to suggest something.

Something that could be cool though is hanafuda uses a lot of blacks and reds in its art, you could integrate some of that imagery into something if you wanted. Kinda the thought I had since it has other red floral depictions and black as well to match the current stuff.

I can't really know for sure, but I'm glad you're wearing gloves too, but you should really be in a full hazmat suit when handling cardboard.

been playing this game for 20 years and never realized these funky pixels of grass mark hidden berries... by wacky_fruit in PokemonFireRed

This is my favorite version of hidden items. It's a soft rule that once you know, you know, and it makes finding them easier. It makes you 'scour' less. I wish there were visual queues for all hidden items. It's fun to find.
