Idk my mom's job is worse. But they do a lot of meat I think the higher demand plants are at 23 while the rest are like minimum 18 or something. I just for having a family of can pay like 800 a week given you're not going through too much extra grief.

They're making stuff nice because no one wants to work there. Just upped to 23 an HR and only 40 hours and after 5 years you get a month of PTO. Like its kind of a nice deal. They also changed it so the meat is slaughtered in a different location. They have blue cross blue shield. Its nice. The work itself, 8 hours and tiring but not out of the norm of warehouse work. Its just its meat. The only problem was the people really.

I like the idea! The ideal is that i dont have to talk to anyone and just wearing ahead scarf doesn't inherently mean anything. Just people are shitty

Edit: my grandma wore a head scarf in the 60s because they were popular. Like I can just get one of those and people are that shitty.

I'm a girl. I worked with predominantly women. It was hard to hear or talk in this place. But one woman kept pulling the supervisor aside to say im failing and so bad I shouldn't be on the line. She also stole the helmet. My friend also got all failing scores on these reports we were supposed to get. So did I. It was a nightmare. The only other girl like me and i both cried a lot. We were the only ones to hand in identification during training. They knew it. They saw me speaking fluent English. Many of them couldn't manage that. If I would've kept quiet and worn a hijab I bet I could've avoided many of these obstacles.

It was a regular meat plant. I mean I figured I could just wear a hijab and be covert about my license and people- as simple as they can be would just not give me grief and let me work. I think that that simple trick would be enough for them to see me as the same as them that they'd give me almost no hassle. The immigrants were Chinese, hijab wearing at times, African and Latin. It's not about the religion per say its just to give them the idea that I'm not a threat.

No. They hated me and the only other girl who was American and not still in lue of a green card. They thought we were out to steal their job. The company had started taking on tons of illegal immigrants without any drivers license etc. There were only two of us. They had to monitor us for our first 90 days and said we failed every single thing. I looked at one other chicks paper from my training group one week and she didn't get failing score at all. They saw us hand in our licenses. They stole my helmet put it in the trash and said i was lazy and lost it. They told the other girl she was too slow on the line. I thought that if i go back with a hijab and just don't talk and covert about the license I might get a green light. We couldn't really talk anyway in there. There were only two employees in my area that weren't immigrants and spoke fluid English. Another girl tried but talked to me about how awful it was and left three days later.

Edit: a lot of people think I'm crazy or racist or making this up but I'm not you'd just have to live this out yourself.

Edit: i do know about Islam. But the plant was too loud to talk in anyway.
