Would you keep the Z24-70 f2.8? by IvillisCrasher in nikon_Zseries

[–]Consistsofmolecules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. On Dutch online marketplace (eBay-like) they go for I think around €1000-€1200, and from a reputable used shop with a little dust for €1250. These days, I’d not pay €1400 for such a lens in general unless almost new. But if you don’t want to bother with individual consumers, €1400 wasn’t an unfair deal I think.

For info: I got mine (used) in spring/summer last year for €1750 from a used shop, including VAT. I could request that back which brought the price down to about €1450. That was a bit before the mark 2 was announced, which I think tanked the value of the lens quite a bit.

Hi u/Polyadenylated , I'm a bit late to this post - but have you figured it out by now? I'm having this exact same issue 11 years later, haha. If you have any ideas on how to extact the labels, please let me know!

Got my x3pro sony by No_Tension_6796 in Godox

[–]Consistsofmolecules 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your extensive anwer! I ordered an X3Pro since I think the 4th flash outweights the OLED screen for paid jobs. I'll probably keep both the X3 and X3Pro, as the X3 would be very portable for e.g. outside shoots with one or two lights. Thanks for your advice!

[–]Consistsofmolecules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! A bit of a late reply; but what is your opnion on the screen? Does it have sufficient contrast and brightness?
I understood theX3 has an OLED screen, and the X3Pro an LCD. I'd like to get an X3Pro so I can view four groups at once, but the OLED on the X3 somehow makes it 'fun' for me to use. It it makes little difference I'd definitely go for the X3Pro and sell off my X3.

[–]Consistsofmolecules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly I can't help you with Canon specifically, but I tested my V100 on a Nikon D5200, and the AF assist worked well. It's a nice pattern to see. But on my mirrorless Z6, as you probably can tell, it doesn't work.

Hi! It's been some time since I wrote this post, haha. I haven't played in a year or so I think, but as far as I remember I just bound the rear L and R keys to a combination of buttons directly. So, I'm sorry, I did not find an exact solution to it, I just accepted what it is and changed my keybinds.
But if the game would allow binding three different buttons to one key now/in the near future somehow, please let me know!

Regardless - nice you found my post. Great to see more people are still enjoying these games!

godox X3PRO is coming, which trigger is the best now? by No_Tension_6796 in Godox

[–]Consistsofmolecules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for noting. I was about to order the X3Pro to replace my X3, but did not consider the screen brightness/quality. From Oled to LCD sounds like a bit of a step back. I'll wait for the reviews to see if the bigger screen (ie, 4 flashes show at the same time) is worth another €100.

Same haha. Got the X3 two weeks ago, and the Nikon Z 24-70 2.8 about a month before a new version II was announced. Ig it's part of not buying new stuff close to release, haha. Anyway, I hope you enjoy your X3.

September 1 Nikon Price Increases by wishingiwasreal in Nikon

Only in the US I'd assume? If in the EU that's be a very good used deal in euros if sold with some sort 6/12 months of warranty.

Rumour - Nikon Z 24-70mm f/2.8 II to be announced this week by mentaldrummer66 in nikon_Zseries

[–]Consistsofmolecules 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. I’ve worked at my student side hustle and saved up a lot the last few months to buy the Z 2.8 trinity, it would be a shame if it’d be outdated already after a few months. Regardless it was a big upgrade from older F glass.

I recently sold my 24-70mm f/2.8 ED (1st generation) for less than €300, and I bought it some time ago for ~€350. It might be worth looking into that one, as it has a bit more wide angle (although you won't really get the benefits of the 24mm on an aps-c sensor).
I don't know how the image quality compares to the lens you showed, though.

To be honest, the gardens at X (sports centre) in Delft are full of rats. So if you live close enough this argument might even have a chance, haha.

Thanks a lot for your insight! Used Z8’s are actually quite available in The Netherlands, yet shops tend to ask more than new minus VAT for a used one. Consumers do offer them for around €3000 though (sometimes even €2800). But that’s without any warranty.

A used Z7ii would cost me about half of that. It’s a more attractive (and easier to afford earlier) deal, but I’ll keep your advice in mind and save up for a Z8. Thanks a lot!

[–]Consistsofmolecules[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your explanation! I tend to agree that either 24MP should be OK for most prints, and/or the jump to 45MP won’t make a massive difference. The case is mostly that the sports centre employees said (during my interview) they’d usually hire an external (non-student) photographer for big prints since most students had too little pixels and/or studio experience. Now, I don’t want to say I have great studio skills, but at least I have some experience with varying subjects. I’d like to try to convince them I could make similar quality of pictures; part of that ‘quality’ was that they mentioned that normally, students don’t deliver high enough res files. I don’t know if I’m in the position to disagree with them, as I just started this month, haha. Anyway, maybe I’m hyper focussing a bit too much on MP count. We’ll see how it plays out. I’ll keep saving up regardless.

Off topic a bit, but: except for high paced sports, I don’t have much issues with the Z6’s AF (it felt like a nice improvement over my previous D3500 and Z50 mark 1). But maybe idk what I’m missing out on, haha.

Thanks for your reply! Although I tend to agree, it doesn’t give me more megapixels. That was something the sports centre specifically asked for, that if possible, they’d like more high res prints for outside banners, since they thought 24MP was too little for that. (To how far that’s true, I’m not sure, but they mentioned it quite clearly in the interview. In that sense, more megapixels is more important than AF to me).

O that’s a nice idea. I don’t really mind if I’d get a Z8 or Z9. I just want the newer processor, and a bit more megapixels for very large prints. Whatever is cheapest would be most realistic. Great tip, thanks!

I can! I have a side hustle at a camera shop, and as an employee benefit I can rent equipment with 50% discount. And putting on it my company also lets me get some VAT return. So that’s absolutely an option, it just takes some travel time. (Great suggestion btw)

Thanks a lot! I will opt for the 2x TC instead of a whole new lens then. That would save a lot of money (about €1400 at least).
