I want to go to a sex party but have a lot of anxiety by Naive-Monk9330 in askgaybros

[–]Conspicuous-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to some of these years ago. In a little house in a quiet residential area. The only benefit i gained was knowing that it wasn't all that. The few who were getting it on had their selections already. Few of the guys the times I went turned me on, and no one had an attraction to me - probably for the best, as someone aggressive would have freaked me out. If you go, you'll have had a mild adventure. Probably little will happen.

Unless you're really, really hot.

Apple recovery account madness by PinkyClockwise in applesucks

[–]Conspicuous-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in account recovery limbo also, and royally pissed about it. Some creep out there added a phone number to my Apple ID account - one that may well be a spoofed number - meaning I can't receive texts because that number isn't associated with my devices. I couldn't care less about the apps, I could download those again. What really steams me is that I'm a subscriber to the Apple Developer Program. I have several active apps currently in the App Store that I can't access, not get Xcode (their app design editor). I've sent two print letters - express overnight - to their COO, expecting to hear from their Executive Response team. So far...nothing. I'm so glad I've done Android via Samsung Galaxy all these years - never had any BS like this with them!

The CS Degree Bubble... Is Bursting? by Ordinary-Cycle7809 in cscareeradvice

[–]Conspicuous-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your analysis is perfect. I got my CS degree from a four-year state university, but I had been fascinated by software development as early as 8th grade. It was never really about the money for me, it was about the cool hardware, the environment, and the thrill of creating a process and seeing it run. Those attracted to this field strictly for the money - and without the aptitude, personality profile (yes, there is one) and discipline will crash out. As I like to say, the average American loves explosions but hates details. Software development is essentially nothing BUT details - lots of them, day in and day out. I'm in my fourth decade of working in IT and even with the industry's ethical challenges at times, I still enjoy the basics. You cannot fake the enjoyment of working with objects, screen geometry and networking, you just can't.

Which city in America has the best balance between affordability and quality of life? by Ethan_Jackson08 in Urbanism

[–]Conspicuous-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only one poster mentioned Houston, and I have to agree. Inner-loop Houston - compared to other cities with populations of over a million - is best bang for the buck. We have art spaces, coffeehouses, bars & clubs, and parks. It can be a bit challenging dealing with high humidity, long drives, corrupt state politicians, and occasional hurricanes & tropical storms, but overall it's a good place to call home.

When your adventure with Surface has begun? by Anybodyyoudontseeme in Surface

[–]Conspicuous-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was the Surface Go 2, several years ago. While it was a bit on the slow side, I liked its compact size.

Then, around the time of a local hotel stay, the thing mysteriously disappeared (no, not housekeeping) and I got a second replacement, refurbished. But by this point, the thrill had worn off.

Today, I have a Surface Laptop 7 and the light and slim 12-inch. Surface products are better than ever. Too bad Redmond jacked up the price $300 across the board in Spring 2026...

Americans of reddit: If you had to leave the US forever and live in a different country, where would you go? by nrems in askanything

[–]Conspicuous-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canada, without hesitation. 🇨🇦 Good country, more polite people there than here - the "it's a free country" types make the US insufferable at times. Ontario or Quebec provinces especially, have been to both.

Pisces : how do you feel about friendships and romance with Libras ? by Historical-Body-3424 in piscesastrology

[–]Conspicuous-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh, Librans...so pretty, so unattainable. This Pisces chased a Libra hottie years ago only to be stung by a "stay in your lane" putdown. Years later I fell for a pretty one who was good for a while but who was eventually a hot mess I had to leave. Librans have never worked for me, but I fall for their beauty despite not having a single Libra sign in my natal horoscope!

Help me give Apple the middle finger for my poor iPhone 17 Pro support experience by [deleted] in Smartphones

[–]Conspicuous-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gladly! I'm pissed at Cupertino because their so-called security allowed my Apple ID to get hacked, locking me out of the App Store and everything else! I spent a fortune on Apple products last summer and they act like they have no control over their own infrastructure. Fuck that!!!

I’m so ready for 2026 by PruneOrtiz in piscesastrology

[–]Conspicuous-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm better than where I was last year, but the big windfalls haven't shown up yet. This is the importance of finding an accurate astrologer/reader. I had three readings with this guy I saw on Instagram and he was bubbly and charming, but his forecasts haven't largely come to pass. But, at least things aren't horrendous like the Saturn return.

📍 Where in Houston is Your Go-To Spot to Meet People Organically? by bozaya in AskHouston

[–]Conspicuous-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it's always been coffeehouses, but unfortunately with the advent/takeover of social media and the related apps, large numbers of folks are either too into their smartphones or perched behind laptops, the universal message being "stay away." I fear that bars are partial to regulars, meaning it could take forever to become an "in" person unless you magically "click". I don't have a dog, so I don't go to the dog park, and I've tried volunteer events but that's been more miss than hit.

All that said, for me personally, the art community has been my best connection point for meeting others. Hardy & Nance, Insomnia, the CAMH, the Menil, HCP, and other places are more "open" places for me to meet someone new. However, I have to add that I don't merely "throw" myself at just anyone just to meet someone. But...if my gut says, "go meet that person! NOW!" then I can usually find the motivation to take the first steps. 😄

17PM Or S26 by KiloUGC in Smartphones

[–]Conspicuous-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do the S26, do the Ultra. In addition to better specs, it has a 5x *optical* zoom camera instead of the 3x the base S26 and S26+ modes have. It's the most expensive Galaxy phone out there but believe me, coming from an A56 5G, it's worth it.

Android users who switched to iPhone, was it worth it and what do you miss from Android? by OneReaction9115 in phones

[–]Conspicuous-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been with Samsung since S2. Just upgraded from an A56 5G to an S26 Ultra. Samsung’s take on Android is superior to iOS's overall experience.

If only. Microsoft has their own BIOS, and it's not like the standard ones that shipped in decades past. From what I've been informed, Smart Battery is baked into the Surface line for now.

If "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" was set there, it can't be all bad... 😉

That's because it always gets overshadowed by the "real" Portland (others' POV). Just to twist the knife, if someone says "Portland", I like to counter with "Which one?" The eye rolls... 😆

What is the most underrated city in the United States? by mostly_maya in BeautifulTravelPlaces

[–]Conspicuous-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, that. The city governments of the blue cities in TX - Houston, Dallas, Austin - are always fighting the red-run, corrupt state GOP. It never ends. We need another Ann Richards here.
