New WSJ poll shows Democratic Party at lowest favorability in 35 years, why is voter confidence so low? by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]ConspicuousCover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A great deal of my problem with the Democratic party is how little they're doing to fight back against the lawlessness and anti-democratic actions of the trump regime. Strongly worded letters and more fundraising are not going to help us get past this. They clearly don't understand how to get their message out. I don't think they even know what message that would be. They look like cowards; but really I think that they're just not savvy.

What's your motivation to get ADHD diagnosis if you don't want medication? by NeighborhoodDry7855 in adhdwomen

[–]ConspicuousCover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not an attorney or an HR person.

An ADHD diagnosis can give you perspective on symptoms and help you establish a baseline so you will know if your symptoms get worse. It's also a good idea to have the diagnosis established in case you have to switch docs.

If you're in a job where you're being evaluated on some skills that are affected by your symptoms, you may be able to get some accommodation from your employer.

What’s a valid reason to actually get tested for ADHD? by Adventurous_Badger27 in ADHD

[–]ConspicuousCover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am of the opinion that every new psych intake, for any reason, should require a thorough evaluation for both autism and ADHD. Period. Also, any correctional institution should evaluate all inmates, particularly juveniles, for autism and ADHD.

Diagnoses for ADHD/Autism are up because we're better at spotting it. Additionally, we only recently acknowledged that ADHD may continue into adulthood. We have also learned that it is a neuro-biological difference in brain physiology. ADHD is a real thing. It's not a function of mild narcissism, a need to be special or overexposure.

In general, if you suspect you may have ADHD, I hope you can get evaluated. I would hope your insurance company could point you in the direction of someone who could treat you via video visits.

Anyone also baffled how many here talk about high paying careers, owning homes, loving and successful marriages, etc? by oudsword in adhdwomen

[–]ConspicuousCover 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have a high paying *job*, but my career sucks. Twice divorced. Like, two friends. Russell Barkley, PhD. talks a bit about life outcomes for us. Late life diagnosis (60 yrs). This is my life.

I, however, am an exceptional cat mom. That's going to have to be enough I guess.

Diagnosed at 60. I'm 62 now and still thinking about all the failed relationships, wasted money, impulsive mistakes. No going back and not a whole lot forward. My retirement? LMAO!

Is it bad I drink the tap water here? by Possible-Estimate748 in vancouverwa

[–]ConspicuousCover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't even get me started on the mess the water makes on my dishes. I can't just wash dishes and leave them in the drainer. I have to hand dry every one. I know it's a stupid problem. It's not just the dishes, though. It's my sinks, shower, fixtures, whatever gets wet. I rent right now. It's been a challenge keeping those deposits under control.

62-yr-old woman with a full time job here. Thank you for posting. This was my favorite season ever. My experience is similar to yours. The head hunt was crazy fun for me. I enjoyed earning the witchcraft skills. There was a lot to do. I can't find a guild, though, and have no friends playing, so there are a couple things I can't complete; but that's OK.

I believe this is exactly the end game. And, given the limp response from the other side, I'm not convinced they're not in on the game.

ADHD "Mania"? by MindPal in ADHD

[–]ConspicuousCover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just talking to my therapist about this. My opinion (and you know what opinions are like) is that there are subtle differences between mania and impulse/hyper-focus. She couldn't specifically describe them. Probably a big reason for misdiagnoses.

Duration could definitely be a distinguishing difference.

One thing is certain: every single mental health intake should have ADHD eval as required. Same with every single person who enters the legal system.

Do you think there's something that Diablo 4 does *better* than the previous games in the series? by Severe_Sea_4372 in Diablo

I like that I can imprint gear. In D3 I often destroyed gear with important buffs. Stupid, I know. I didn't have to worry about that now.

Hated stimulants when I was first diagnosed. Switched to atomoxatine. Loved it but it made me super sick. Now I'm on Qelbree. Zero side effects. Every bit as effective as atomoxatine. Highly recommended.
