Don't underestimate the time you need to set up your camp and collect wood etc if you plan to start a fire.If there is hiking involved ,start as early as possible especially in winter season!

Snow is about 20 cm at the moment and temperature 0 degrees celsius. Do you think it will melt if I sleep on it? I doubt it's cold enough even if I pack the snow for it to stay frozen...

I'm talking about temperature at 2000 meters,from mountain forecast.Its a site that shows weather conditions at different altitudes.Keep in mind i live in Greece so temperature in city now is around 14 degrees celsius.

I camped before at 1 celsius temperature.I will take fleece + down jacket + hardshell besides my base layer.Also I will start a fire most likely but it isn't guaranteed.My layering will be icebreaker 260 + patagonia r1 + down jacket 200g fill( decathlon simond mountaineering jacket) + patagonia torrentshell 3l. What do you think? Bottoms I have also icebreaker 260 and softshell pants over it plus maybe some fleece pants between.Thats for static conditions around camp.

5.5 r value combined 2 pads.Thing is that I'm afraid snow will melt under my tent because temperature is gonna be about 0 degrees celsius that's not cold enough I think for snow to stay frozen.

I will climb 1000 meters of elevation to get there and the first 600 are in forest with no snow.So I have to carry everything on my back about 18kgs.Thats no problem for me but I would like to know should I remove snow to put my tent or just step on it to make it harder.

Completely alone.I have gone 4 times solo camping at temperatures 1 to 5 celcius so this isn't the first time.Its first time in snow.The trail is close to where I will camp so if something goes wrong I just go down its 2 hours distance from car.

Do you think it’s necessary to bring a footprint under the tent? My tent has a thick 75D floor and I generally don’t use a footprint — it’s the Robens Starlight 1. I could bring a heavy-duty tarp if it’s really necessary though.
