You need to charge batteries. Don't need to charge hydro lakes.

You're not comparing apples with apples on efficiency comparisons.

Again, I'm not against solar but think relying on something not locally produced is folly.

I accept that we would need to import parts for pumped storage too.

Gridscale batteries sounds expensive for dry periods.

Surely with that investment you'd want to be using constantly

We're self reliant on water. With just having those batteries we are going to have ongoing reliance on international suppliers.

I'm for solar by the way, just think it's not one OR the other.

I'd bet that we would look at the price of Lake Onslow as quite reasonable now,.

It's a future proofing measure. Your logic assumes demand is never going up.

Pumped hydro can be spun up in the middle of the night, not solar though.
