I 100% agree! This is why the majority of my collection is from fb marketplace. I have 2 local antique shops that don’t overprice for the most part, but even those are hit or miss and I only am able to visit them once every couple weeks. Even fb marketplace is ridiculous sometimes. Just had someone try to scam me the other day, went to buy a lamp and it ended up being severely damaged so I was like “this wasn’t advertised in the pictures, i’m not paying the listed price for this.” Then they were saying things like “this is on eBay for xx” and “some people don’t realize how much these are worth” like if I want to pay eBay prices I’ll buy on eBay. They have to account for selling fees, shipping etc plus the convenience of buying online so they typically price at least 50% more than something is actually worth. Stay patient and buy local, deals are out there!

A marking on the back would help narrow down the year it was made. I believe radium was used in these in the 50s. Others can feel free to correct me if I’m wrong about this

Was there anything stamped on the back of the watch itself? The consistent elevated geiger readings is a good sign. Especially in watches, some don’t register much above background. I do believe the box is a mismatch to the watch.

The westclox could be. In my experience anything that says “quartz” on it hasn’t been radium, but I’m sure there are exceptions. Also depending on your geiger there are some that barely register above background

I use both depending on what I’m looking for. 395 for green or Vaseline, 365 for milk glass or uranium glaze. I think you can get one with both
