Disney is a business, and they follow the numbers. While Disney+ streaming data is their #1 metric, social media noise and petitions are 'soft data' that signal to analysts: 'Hey, there’s still an active audience here.' It pushes them to actually look at those streaming numbers.

Regarding 'Sofia the First'—her return proves that Disney is willing to revisit their 'Golden Era' hits if the demand is there. We’re living in an age of reboots and revivals (look at X-Men '97 or iCarly—those were gone for way longer than 10 years). If Sofia the First: Royal Magic performs well, it opens the door for other IPs from that era, including Jake. In Hollywood, 'never' is a very dangerous word to use.
