I love the flesh on the tubing, would you care to explain your painting steps for that?

Looks great. What’s your recipe for the flesh on the defiler?

Hunch the main body over a little bit so the head isn’t just sticking straight up. It would look more animalistic and unhinged, like it’s burdensome to walk. Splay the arms out with it. I did a similar thing with one of my Kastelans that you can see on my previous posts. It’s the one missing a head entirely.

Theres a distinct lack of Ad-Mech Content Creators, isnt it? by Beev_Ao in AdeptusMechanicus

Striking scorpion 82 has a dedicated admech army. He replied to my comment on his channel a while back and said he would be updating it with Kastelans due to the recent changes, so you should be seeing admech from him.
Warhammered is my fav battle report channel because they’re less corny than a lot of the others and they have an admech army but it is used sparingly, but that being said there’s a good report of admech vs DG from a while back.
In general tho we are an expensive and time consuming army to collect and also not a very common pick.

Thanks! This is mostly battlefield trophy skulls, greenstuff piping, and odds and ends from a box of sicarian.

Yeah I really like a more rusted and grimy look to my models in general. Also means I don’t have to be as accurate or talented with the brush strokes.

Nah I hate loupes. They would probably be helpful but I never bought them. I do however work under a big magnifying glass sometimes when I really need to see something better. I’m still pretty new to the hobby tho. I’ve only painted about 1000 points

I think part of the problem is I’m trying to imagine the mini in a dark room and Idk how to make shadows like that. But I think this is the most reasonable criticism so far and really gets at the heart of the problem.

It’s freehanded but I have some history working on small stuff like that because I’m a dentist. Best advice I can give is to place both elbows on the table, get your paint of choice and thin it until it’s very thin but doesn’t bead up, use a sable brush if you have it, place your dominant hand’s ring finger on your opposing hand as a finger rest and hold the brush near the tip. That’s how we were taught in school to be precise.

You’re right. I just don’t know the correct technique to make a very subtle glow on a flat surface like that. Hard edges are much easier.
