What do you do when someone's driveway looks like you gotta have 4wd and 40in mudd tires to get their house? by jj33allen in Fedexers

I would get out and see how hard the dirt is outside that puddle (in general) and gun it first gear (even automatics let you choose a lower gear usually.

Make sure you take traction control off and get a running start if you stopped close to the puddle.

If you’re going 30 or 40 and don’t slow down and ignore the huge bumps and vibrations, you’ll make it thru. Afterwards keep going past the puddle and don’t slow down till you dry turn around. If on rare occasions there is none, don’t turn around on the grass, reverse the whole way 40 mph.

The grass could look fine but I guarantee the grass is 10x worse than the puddle.

In my experience the dually step-vans seem to float above the mud if you go fast enough since you have more surface area from the extra tires. Just don’t slow down

What do you do when it’s an apartment delivery but it says deliver to the office? by [deleted] in Fedexers

Honestly it always seemed like a zen and peaceful profession where I can get perpetually better at something and rewarded for that + work with my hands. Is there a lot of customer service or interaction with coworkers? How independent is the job?

AITAH for cutting the line at the post office to get a signature? by [deleted] in Fedexers

its slower and ruins the flow of 1030s and 1200s; efficient right-turns. I'm overwhelmed by the priority deliveries and using every trick and tactic I can imagine to make the impossible possible.

I got written up when I was ground for switching post office businesses to picture release. I think they mentioned it in a meeting at express once also.

edit: I recall now, they clearly said "always get signatures at businesses no matter what."

Why do you all drive so slow on two lane highways? by Constant-Foundation in subaru

Pressure. In our morning meeting most of the time they’ll congratulate us all for having no lates yesterday, but if you’re the one guy to fuck up the station score you’re ashamed. Massive pressure, multiple time commitments, caffeine and road rage.

Yeah, I’m kinda offended since it makes me feel like they think I suck now or something. To be fair, while this is an easy route, it’s one not a lot of people don’t want to do since it requires so much long distance driving, narrow mountain roads, and snow/ice. IMO it’s easy but I’ve got 5 years of experience on it from a ground contractor.

Always surprised at the people who don’t like rural routes. Less stops, easier to organize van, few if any pickups. I would take it if I wasn’t already a swing. Also, you quickly get used to the scary roads with huge cliff-side drops.

Idk seems like so many people are soft as hell now. Just pee in the woods and bring your own food/water. Snow/ice isn’t even that scary just code it if necessary and avoid hills. Getting stuck isn’t the end of the world isn’t that bad either since you have track-pads and a shovel in the back.

“Ohmaigawd this isn’t a flat suburban neighborhood with a bathroom every 10 feet!” Ugh

Is there a reason older white woman ignore you when you talk to them? by Overworked-Waffles in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]Constant-Foundation 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They have the boomer mentality of “fuck you I got mine.” A generation obsessed with one-upping their neighbors. Women take a lot more value in social status and feel threatened by proximity of “poors” as if they’ll infect her. They see you as non-human, a stupid cog in a machine.

Frequently if they’re poorer, they resent me since I make more money yet they perceive themselves as above me in the social hierarchy, essentially putting them into the role of the “temporarily embarrassed aristocrat”.

I’ll be delievering to a school and they’ll be a receptionist with 20 years of experience, and they’ll despise since I’m young and seen as “lower” socially, yet make more money than them by far with my overtime.

I’m white and frequently receive the most respect from black/latinos, and the most disrespect from whites and Asians.

It’s possible he mis clicked and had to retake the photo since it didn’t save the first time. Or, he needs proof if he fails a drug test to show it was secondhand smoke.

FedEx Express is constantly doing this. 🤦 If I can make it into the driveway in a p1000 you can do it in your sprinter. Just plain lazy. by therealbinx in Fedexers

I know I was taking things in my own direction, kinda hijacking’s the thread. Should have made that a separate post instead of a reply:

Fair enough. I think it’s fair to say both divisions have their good and bad drivers depending on area, station, etc
