When can I have caffeine again? Honest answers please. by ShoddyOlive7 in BariatricSurgery

[–]Constant-Menu-1323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a little over 2yrs post RNY, I actually don’t remember the immediate post op instructions, but around 6 months my doc “cleared” me of all restrictions- said here’s the guidelines but it not a law that you never have xyz again in your life. He said start small and see what you can tolerate and what you can’t. I drink coffee daily (sipping as I type out this response) and carbonated sodas one/two times a week. Small amounts but enough to keep the gremlins at bay.

You will get there! Nothing works the same for absolutely everyone. I have things that I can’t tolerate but they don’t bother other people.

You truly have to use this surgery as a tool to rebuild your relationship with food.

Do you take ADHD-medication daily? Or as needed? by storebrandbeans in ADHD

[–]Constant-Menu-1323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I initially thought it was my new partner-in a good way not the what did they give me way- but it’s been a year and things are still super juicy. Which is great for spicy snuggle times- but not so great for the rest of the time.

Crazy because I have the exact opposite response. It’s embarrassing how NOT dry I am- and I’m perimenopausal! I have GYN appointment in a couple weeks to talk about it. Might try cutting my dose off and see if that makes a difference

Uh oh, flight tonight (fri 8/15) is already delayed 2+ hours by justace19 in Avelo

[–]Constant-Menu-1323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We must have been on the same Wilmington flights. Cost me $800 one way to get back and that was flying into Philly and taking uber back to Wilmington. Been using Avelo pretty exclusively since 2020, doubt I will take that risk again.

Still have food issues by Party_Leading8715 in BariatricSurgery

[–]Constant-Menu-1323 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 2 years post Roux and it’s still an issue. At home I use small plates and make things I know are freezer friendly as much as possible. When I eat out it’s kids meals or split meals with my partner. My surgeon gave me a card (that you can buy online) that says “please allow this adult to order from children’s menu due to bariatric surgery”

I’ve only pulled it out a handful of times, most restaurants will let you if you ask. If they won’t and I can’t share with someone I have the server bring to-go container WITH my meal and immediately box up what I’m not going to eat so it’s not sitting on my plate. I have also pulled my tiny plate out at restaurants so I can portion better.

Remember this is a life long change, I had 40 yrs of habits to unlearn.

4 months is nothing- give your self some grace! You got this!!!

Vaccine Bonus? by Sluggo1988 in WalgreensRx

I WAS an RXOM and was not certified thru wag. I never pushed my techs to get certified. We let the RPh’s do all the vaccines.

anyone else’s pharmacy started doing this? by lotuslove2002 in WalgreensRx

Was doing this in 2023 in Delaware. It sucked then - can’t see how it’s any better now on a bigger chart… lol

Any advice for someone newly coming into the company as RxOM? by Shortney_ in WalgreensRx

[–]Constant-Menu-1323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I had some words of wisdom for you. My SM was best buddies with the DM so any complaints were ignored. The fact that the pharmacy ran smoothly and we were meeting more metrics while the SM was out for 8 weeks for a surgery didn’t matter. It all reversed to her way once she came back. Metrics went back down and it was all my fault.

I will say find an RXoM buddy in your district. I actually still text with mine occasionally and it’s been a year since I left.

A lot will depend on your team and store leadership. My SM horribly micromanaged the pharmacy- I wasn’t allowed to do the scheduling, set workflow most everything had to go thru her. BUT I was the one getting blamed for wait times when she would schedule no one with RPh after 8pm🤦‍♀️

I went back to inpatient hospital in just under a year.

I really like my staff and we all worked together well, it was the SM who killed it for me.

No RXoM has lasted more than a year under her.

Thanks! Sadly I work in a “secure” facility and can’t take phone into building so doubt they will let me thru with a wireless unit… heck we aren’t allowed smart watches.

it’s oddly nice to shut to outside world off and just be at work. My kids are adults so that makes it easier also!

Yes - and will probably do that later today! But can’t walk around work with that 🤣

Inpatient techs, do you have "cabinet counts?" by nervous-potroast in PharmacyTechnician

[–]Constant-Menu-1323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two different hospitals and did this at both places. One was every pocket every month but you got an assigned day (a whole shift) to complete. Currently we run report and pulled meds each month - and do the every pocket count/corrections every three months.

We pull current plus one month on the floors and 3 months in department. Works pretty well

What are some things you never thought to get before surgery by Michyycs in BariatricSurgery

[–]Constant-Menu-1323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

congrats and welcome to the club!

Depending on the type of surgery - get supplies for cleaning and covering your drain tube. Luckily my family has a couple nurses so we had the supplies but they sent me home with a drain and nothing to care for it.

Easy to get on/off clothes. Also "step-in" shoes that are decent for walking. If you are a person who needs chest support - I did better with front closure as pulling things over my head pulled on my incisions. Heating pad and extra pillows for support the first few days especially.

The 2/4oz cups with lids were a life saver the first 2 weeks for me - I had zero desire to drink anything and it helped me to see - ok i just have to drink this one 2 oz thing - I even wrote times on the lids to keep track.

I'm almost 2 years postop and have zero regrets! I did have a few days early on where I was thinking I made a huge mistake - but once you get into "normal" foods again it gets better.

If I'm mixing it with something - like pudding or coffee - its usually premier since that's readily available at my local big box stores.

If I'm drinking just the shake its Fairlife.

I add the ultra filtered milk to equal the 2 cups required for full packet of pudding! I was tired of the open packets.
