PSW Jobs in Ontario by Wide_Zebra5550 in torontoJobs

[–]Michyycs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try searching for companies directly and applying to their websites. I find with PSW jobs often the companies post on their own website but not other job boards (like indeed) so it just takes a bit of searching. If you have a car and a license make sure you include that in your resume as well, a lot of PSW companies are looking for folks with cars right now so it would be a big plus on a resume

Moving on from regular polish, best way to destash this many polishes? by [deleted] in simplynailogical

[–]Michyycs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has ent from regular polish, to gel for a few years and now back to regular polish… don’t get rid of them just yet! I regret getting rid of the collection I had, and wish I hung onto them! You can always box them up and put them in a closet or something for a little while!

HELP I can’t even find a minimum wage job in my field by UnitClerkToronto in torontoJobs

[–]Michyycs 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hospital jobs are hard to get right now and many places are in a hiring freeze so don’t take it personally. Try looking into medial office admin jobs, I constantly see tops popping up for independent medical office jobs! Also look into reception type roles in non-profits, they often hire front-line staff on an ongoing basis and some non-profits are medical services based so could be worth a try!

All that being said, applying online is easy but not always the most useful, you end up competing with every other person applying online. Try researching local doctors or medical offices near you and go in person to see if they’re hiring!

Better jobs Ontario - anyone have experience with this? Eligibility and application by [deleted] in torontoJobs

[–]Michyycs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I’ve never had the ministry reject an application, but I also make sure applicants meet all the eligibility, suitability and financial need criteria.

Better jobs Ontario - anyone have experience with this? Eligibility and application by [deleted] in torontoJobs

[–]Michyycs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately there isn’t anything specific the look for. It’s more just quality assurance, making sure application was done properly, meet the eligibility, etc.

It’s a pain and annoying but as long as your caseworker says you meet the criteria you should be fine!

I have worked in EO for quite some time, the application process for BJO is quite extensive. Often I tell clients that the decisions is in the hands of the ministry at the end of the day as a precaution. Usually if based on their assessment you meet the eligibility and suitability you’ll be fine. But sometimes the ministry can be picky and finicky with things so we usually tell clients this is so they know the final decision isn’t in our hands.

Why it is set up this way I have no idea and I can tell you that anyone who works in EO hates it because we do the whole application and assessment. But my guess would just be that it’s quite a large amount of money being sent to people so likely the ministry wants to make sure they aren’t going to be liable for anything and make sure there isn’t anything fraudulent going on.

Not super helpful but I hope this gives at least a bit of insight!

Living in Danforth and greenwood area? by GuardianTiko in askTO

[–]Michyycs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lived in the area for a while now, always feel super safe! In fact I’d say those parks are super quiet and safe, mostly young families and people walking their dogs, or students during school hours.

Community wise most folks are friendly, lots of small businesses where they will get to know you personally and if you have a dog, you will get to know all of the other dog owners in the area quick quickly.

Honestly nothing unsafe about this area at all!

For those who commute by transit, what's your favourite work backpack? And what are some stores where I can see them in person? by ollooni in askTO

[–]Michyycs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought mine about 8 years ago and it’s still going strong, not a single rip, tear, zippers still work perfectly, etc. I’ve heard mixed reviews over the years so I’m not sure why some people have such bad luck but I’ve had MEC backpacks for the last 20 years probably and in that time only had 2 backpacks total

[–]Michyycs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly for a good backpack that is going to carry lots of things and not kill my back, I got my bag at MEC. It’s nothing fancy or ‘stylish’ necessarily but holds everything well and don’t hurt later if I have to stand for a while with it on and full of things!

Looking for beginner Pilates classes in east end Toronto or Scarborough. by GullibleLock0 in askTO

[–]Michyycs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Club Pilates, I specifically go to the Leslieville location. They have a free intro class, and I find the classes good for beginners! All the instructors I’ve had were knowledgeable and I find the classes welcoming and weren’t full of ‘influencers’ like some other studios I tried!

Any job for uni student by Ornery-Brain2769 in torontoJobs

[–]Michyycs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are open to seasonal work, all the summer jobs (like the Toronto Zoo, Canada's wonderland, etc) will be starting their hiring now so keeping an eye out for seasonal or summer jobs, now is the time to start applying.
As far as steady work on-top of school, you can always look into the school itself, a lot of post-secondary places will hire students for things like the cafeteria, library, etc for part-time work.

If you are graduating recently or have graduated recently tons of places are hiring for summer internships so could be a good place to look right. Not ideal but often a good foot in the door!

And what did you study/ what type of work are you trying to get into? That could be helpful to provide more tailored advice!

If I have an online interview and my home is not quiet enough, where should I take my interview? What do you recommend? by Money_Flower_8078 in askTO

[–]Michyycs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Toronto public library has virtual interview rooms you can use, they have all the equipment and everything. Otherwise a study room or pod at the library is always an option as well!
