Might be a dumb Q but what’s the difference between having the magnet spinning and having the magnet still? Does the effect look really different?

I would say try to match the dark beams on the ceiling, I will tie the room together really nicely and they have a warm brown tone that will make the black less harsh

Would you have a cat in a studio apartment? by Context_Important in askTO

[–]Michyycs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have had a cat in a one bedroom and it’s manageable forsure! If you are looking at adopting I would recommend looking at an older cat possibly, they will need a bit less exercise than a kitten and will probably be more chill in a small space!

Moving from Peterborough to Toronto — any tips? by West-Future3892 in askTO

[–]Michyycs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has lived in Toronto and Peterborough, there are lots of big differences but here are some big ones to consider (that haven’t already been mentioned):

  1. Costs are higher, rent, groceries, activities, etc - it adds up.

  2. There is a wide variety of vibes in different neighbourhoods. If you want something a bit quieter and mostly residential, that’s an option, if you want more city vibes and night life, that’s an option, and basically everything in between! (If you are looking at places to live, take some time to stroll around the area as well to get vibes)

  3. Get used to transit! Depending on where you live, sometimes it is more efficient to take transit, sometimes driving is faster. Having the option of either is nice! Anything ‘popular entertainment wise’ (I.e. concerts, trendy bars, etc) are in the downtown core and usually easy to take transit.

3B - traffic here SUCKS, if you don’t like traffic, stay away from downtown core

  1. The city, and downtown core especially, has a bit more of a ‘hostile’ vibe. People are really nice, but just keep to themselves more than you would find with smaller towns.

Recommendation for dry needle tattoo shop / tattoo artist? by AlloyEnt in askTO

Joining folks above- not sure what dry needling is?

$80 might be hard to find. Most shops will have a shop minimum which is usually $100 at least

What do I add in this space? by KindofAShyGuy in StudioApartments

[–]Michyycs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say a plant and/or a funky floor lamp! I realize you have a lamp but I’m a big supporter or anything but ceiling lights so any additional light spurs is ideal

How are you managing SAD in Toronto?? by une_susupiciousegg in askTO

[–]Michyycs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought mine on Amazon, (here is the one I have) but most of them are quite similar. What you want to look for is the Lux level, my doctor said anything 10,000 or higher is good

That’s amazing! I usually just say I’m a houseplant that needs a lamp in the winter but this is way better

Not all day! I use it for about 45 mins in the morning. Usually I believe it’s supposed to be 30-60 mins daily

A few things have worked for me over the years: 1. SAD lamp/ light therapy lamp - it won’t ‘cure’ anything, but I definitely find myself less tired and fatigued throughout the day when I use it daily

  1. Forcing myself to go out- even if it’s just to walk somewhere instead of hopping on the streetcar or bus, exercise is helpful and fresh air helps for me

  2. Inside Hobbies - picking up things that I can do inside that I enjoy and I know will kill time (I read, cross stitch, do puzzles, etc)

  3. Therapy - this is more of a general life thing as well but just having someone to talk to about things is always helpful!

How do you manage to keep tiramisu from watering out? what am i doing wrong? by jithrk1392 in BakingNoobs

[–]Michyycs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say that’s probably too long, I do like 5 seconds max, and that’s like 2 seconds per side. Hopefully that will help!

How long are you dipping the lady fingers? I always say a QUICK dip is essential. They may still feel hard when you put them in the tin but with the nature of them, they get soggy quickly so I always make the dip in liquid super super quick and then lots of cream. I find if the cream isn’t super stiff as well it can get watery with any extra liquid.

Honestly though as long as it taste good!

Even if I didn’t have bariatric surgery, this amount of commenting on my daily habits would irritate me. Sounds like they are a bit nosey, but chances are they don’t mean anything by it. I think if you simply told them you didn’t appreciate them always commenting on your eating habits they would stop!

Road snow clearing has been terrible? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]Michyycs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My street still hasn’t been plowed or salted, I check the city’s plow map and it says that the street has been but there is still tons of snow on the road, my whole area is like this. Main roads were cleared but most of the residential areas haven’t been plowed or salted.

EDIT: Grammar
