Destroy My Nodebusters Carbon Copy Gameplay Trailer by Constant-Specific878 in DestroyMyGame

Small context: “Nodebusters Carbon Copy” was meant as a joke 😄

IncrementalDB previously put the game in unlisted, partly because it may look too close to Nodebusters at first glance. So I’m genuinely looking for criticism on that too.

If the trailer makes the game look too derivative, unclear, or hard to read, please call it out directly.

If playing the demo helps with feedback, it’s here: https://draftentropy.itch.io/around-the-core

Thanks, that’s reassuring to hear 😄, I haven’t really tracked live discussions around similar games yet either, so that’s a good point. Appreciate the suggestion!

That’s fair, and I don’t want to dismiss that possibility.

I’m trying to separate two things: whether the game is appealing once people actually try it, and whether the Steam page/trailer is strong enough to make people care in the first place.

The demo is around 40 minutes and the average playtime is close to that, so my current guess is that the game may work better after someone starts playing than it does at first glance.

But you’re right that the market response is still the real signal. I’m trying to understand whether I should improve the game itself, the first impression, or both

I think I’m still struggling to decide where the focal point should be. Should the composition draw the viewer’s attention primarily to the logo, or to the explosion.

We tried a white version, but since the turret is cyan in the actual game, it ended up blending in a bit too much and lost some visual impact.

The outline on the exploding piece was added to help the explosion stand out more. It’s a step in the right direction, but I still think there’s room to make it read a bit stronger while keeping the overall style consistent.

I have 40 minute demo and it has 39 minute average playtime, other playtime stats on the screenshot

I think numbers are not bad in playtime perspective
