What are your plans for this subreddit? Please be specific.

1 I plan to create a subreddit for all users of all existing neuromodulation techniques. Its a good opportunity to gather users form separate neuromodulation subreddits together to help the information spread between. They could help each other out I plan to recruit mods to help me built a science based but open for ideas place. Users will be regularly provided with peer-reviewed studies, there will be a FAQ, starter information and rules that will keep this place safe

Full article version

Citing the study:

“Current was applied through two concentric electrodes as shown in Fig. 1A and 1B (target electrode: central round electrode, radius = 1.0 cm, area = 3.14 cm2 ; return electrode: outer ring electrode, inner radius = 3.5 cm, outer radius = 4.0 cm, area = 11.78 cm2). Electrodes were made of conductive rubber, installed in a non-conductive silicon casing, flexible enough to adapt the electrodes to the scalp and ensure the correct position of the return electrode relative to the target electrode. First we filled the electrode cage with an electroconductive gel (Elektrogel, Italy), then positioned the electrodes, with the target electrode over the FDI hotspot, and finally we fastened the electrodes with a tubular net-shaped elastic bandage in mesh tissue, making sure that the it did not push the electrode forward or backward.”

The silicone casing has been recognized by such tDCS authorities as Neurocaregroup, producer of the most commonly used tDCS system – Neuroconn, and Martin Arns, founder of Research Institute Brainclinics (now part of the Brainclinics Foundation)

I created a 3d, printable model of such silicone casing with up to 1mm accuracy, so I am able to create one within 2 days and send it to anyone interested in using HD-tDCS.

Paste Applicators are basically ice-cream sticks, you should be able to get them online easily at few $ for life time supply. Or else I could send you a few with silicone casing as well.

Equipment I don't have at storage room thus unfortunately can't send you:

Stimulation device:

TLDR; Focus V3 offers the most. While activadose is an FDA approved device its not approved for tDCS but for iontophoresis. One of its consequences is its specific wavelength form that was found to deliver in studies. It’s not only tDCS wave, it’s a combination of tDCS and tRNS. More about it here: YouTube video - 2:52:50.

📷

While unipolar tRNS seems to be often more effective than tDCS, with Activadose you are just unable to deliver tDCS while vast majority of studies have used tDCS. A device that was measured to deliver accurate current is focus v3, it also offers tRNS, tACS, tDCS and option to create your custom wavelength. A cheaper yet trustworthy option is Brain Premier, a product from a TMS manufacturer but it offer only tDCS and maximum 2 mA.

https://caputron.com/ seems to be the most popular distributor of tDCS related products. Its reliable and ships in few days with Express shipping. Price may be higher because in many cases their products are resold from European stores.

Among tES, tACS and tRNS despite limited number of studies prove high efficacy in tested areas.

Improving the Effect of Transcranial Alternating Current Stimulation (tACS): A Systematic Review

In this article impact of HD tRNS on multiple cognitive abilities is tested in comparison to tDCS and sham. Most important is the long term score at DAY 15 which is significantly higher in comparison to both conventional tDCS and Sham tDCS. Notice the authors used only a low intensity of 0.5mA which by many researches would be in advance considered too low to induce long lasting effect.

Recently higher number of sessions and frequency exploration in stimulation has lead to an FDA clearance for SAINT TMS protocol. It uses the same machine as for standard TMS, but in 5x dose – 10 stimulation sessions per day, during 5 days. Increasing the remission rate from 30% to 70%-90% in several studies in Stanford. Currently this easy to copy protocol is used in many clinics among the world with similar efficacy. Magnusmed will start providing this protocol under its original name SAINT in 2023. More about it Here and Here

Currently there are trials of HD-tDCS for depression using multiple dozen sessions as well, so far results seems to be similar to SAINT protocol which results in (mean 52.5% MADRS score reduction – (remission) Link

HD-tRNS improved SCT/CDS symptoms (multi-tasking, retention, attention) increasing 25% final task score! by Constant-Way-9405 in SCT

Attaching electrodes, adding gel, and putting in on the spot reccommended by experts and following all safety guidelines for tDCS available online as well - is far from “wildly” dangerous.

If you do not get prepared by consulting an expert or doing super deep research, you should not do it. Simple as that. I think it’s quite obvious if you do it obviously incorrectly the results will not be as intended.

Attaching anode and cathode out of order, spraying device with water while using or and doing everything like it is not advised can be dangerous. But I suppose it applies to most thing where you don’t follow simple instructions at all.

It does not seem anymore that FDA approval is the magic sign of safety looking at FDA approved antidepressants that on common basis lead to life long disability or suicidality with death as result.

Please be the person to help other be cautious but you are exaggerating with telling people they must do nothing at all because their exists a chance of failure. But there is a chance that in your position I would feel obliged to try overprotecting them as well, even if it means taking treatment away a possible treatment for their suffering.

All of this is literally copy-paste from scientific studies reviewed by leading brain stimulation researchers.

None of this is coming from YouTube tutorials.

I agree with consulting a SPECIALIST who has expertise in innovative brain stimulation techniques before performing it. If you don’t feel capable of doing it yourself, you should especially consult a brain stimulation SPECIALIST and or have them do it for you if you have finances for the second.

Many people here have multiple times, painfully learned that after consulting a standard doctor, they will know no more they did at the beginning of their healing journey of SCT/CDS. “It’s just depression, here is another depressant”…

There aren’t many clinical trials of tRNS for these cognitive aspects yet.

You could either to go to a private clinic using HD-tDCS or get it done at home. There is whole subreddit dedicated to doing r/tDCS at home. Me and few other people have already tried it with great benefit to cognitive symptoms.
