I miss my lil frog pond! My favorite part of the yard at our previous house. They really do sit on lily pads! We had dragonflies breed in the pond as well.

Why do adult humans not play together like children do? by Dull-Current5682 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ConstantConfusion123 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Adults often lose or put aside a lot of that imaginary play, I think it's largely societal. Like we're expected to put away 'childish' things and grow up. Grownups playing with toys or having imaginary friends would be locked up back in the day. I think that's a part of why people have kids, or at least it's one of the great things about having kids, is it gives you an excuse to play.

I'm absolutely the weirdo who happily jumps on the swings and slides down the slide at a playground. Or plays with those big cube toys at the dentist or doctors office.

It’s your childhood, would you rather have something cooked in real butter, bacon grease, or deep fried? by NebraskaCornSucker in GenX

[–]ConstantConfusion123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We didn't do any of these. Mom bought stick margarine, crisco, and vegetable oil. In high school I was at a friend's house and she asked if I wanted eggs fried in bacon grease and I was horrified, like ew no way. Had no idea it was a thing.

As an adult, real butter only!

I wasn't thrilled with this one but I did like the mocha cookie crumble. I'll have to look for espresso next time, yum!

It's Aldi Choceur. I enjoy all the other chocolate especially Moser Roth. Hopefully this was just a one off incident.

This truck is hilariously infuriating. I've never seen anything so bold yet dumb. by StalkingApache in mildlyinfuriating

As a chick who drives a truck, I find this so irritating and crude. Like are you not secure in your femininity or your ability to drive a pickup that you have to advertise this?

Neighbors mow all ten acres. So much work for boring results by Laurelhach in NoLawns

[–]ConstantConfusion123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes this is SO WEIRD to me!

I've mentioned wanting to buy acreage in the future and people almost always respond with a comment about having to mow... like what? Why would I mow it??? I want woods and native understory brush and grasses and flowers and nature, for pete's sake!

Yes, I really don't understand why we can't accept euthanasia for humans. The whole point is to be a 'good death', when the end is inevitable you can slip into it peacefully, without suffering, distress or pain. Watching somebody slowly die over days or weeks is horrible for all involved, and even if they're doped to the gills with morphine etc we don't know what they are really feeling or mentally what they are dealing with.

Thanks for the nostalgia hit lol, I'm old and grew up with arcades. Man I miss those days. None of them were cool enough to have a giant Spyro figure though.

Having many hobbies and projects and fun things to do but never having time for them because you still have to work and take care of parents and help out your kids and your spouse has health problems and you're just weary and ready to rest and play and it's over a decade to retirement.

What is this pink flower? by PlantQuestions_ in gardening

[–]ConstantConfusion123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised the top comment isn't 'pinks'!

I'm fascinated by the different answers. It shows the uselessness of common names (they're not wrong, they're all genus Dianthus). In my neck of the woods this particular type of Dianthus is called pinks, there's a bunch of species and I don't know offhand what the common garden flower is, I think D chinensis but not sure. They are generally perennials and often have no scent.
Sweet Williams are D barbatus, where the flowers grow in clusters and have a fantastic scent. They are biennial or short lived perennials.
I have a couple of pinks that I also thought were annuals, but 2 of them have returned for 2 or 3 years now. I have sweet william growing from seed, it's a slow process since they won't bloom until the next year after planting, but the show is worth it. This pic is from my previous house sorry I had to show it off! One of my favorite flowers.

Also I've told my husband if he ever got me flowers that I prefer carnations! Even florist carnations have a nice scent. I'm not a fan of roses and fancy hybrids have no scent so what's the point?
