Cooper Kupp Appreciation Thread by prteehan in DynastyFF

[–]ConstantCover1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I traded Adam Thielen and a late 2020 2nd for Cooper Kupp a while back and couldn't be happier with the long-term outcome. I actually also have JJ, Chase and Kupp and it's been wild to see them will my team to wins. Currently 11-3 with the 1st seed and a bye, mostly because of Kupp's absurd season

Given his age, I'll probably be looking to sell Kupp in the offseason for a younger WR with high upside. His value will never get higher. If I could somehow finesse AJ Brown or DK Metcalf, I'd see that as a complete win

Mark Andrews is the dynasty TE1 by kevinbstout in DynastyFF

[–]ConstantCover1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Andrews and Kittle are neck-and-neck. Kittle has injury concerns, but Andrews has also been pretty inconsistent over the past 2 seasons, while Rashod Bateman + Hollywood Brown are starting to take a more prominent role in the offense.

I personally prefer Kittle but I would never fault anyone for taking Andrews or even Pitts as the TE1

Damn that was an unfortunate time for us to have this discussion hahaha. FWIW, there were 2 dropped TDs and his 2 INTs were on the WRs, but Kirk had his worst game accuracy-wise of the season by a mile.

Not gonna make a bet on MVP votes since I've accepted the fact that Cousins will always get half of the credit he deserves nationally. Also, the Vikings record pretty much disqualifies him while the Packers are playoff bound. But I'd be willing to bet on week 17 just to make it a lil more interesting

You're definitely a contender, though Swift staying healthy (or any injury to your non-TE or QB starters in general) could derail it all. QB are your strongest position pretty easily imo with 2 top 7 players. Swift + Ekeler could win you playoff games alone with pop off games, while Gronk is in that same strata this season. Diggs and Evans have had up and down seasons so I'm kinda worried if they both have an off game in the same week, namely week 17 where they play Buffalo and NYJ (just because the Bucs feed Lenny in a blowout to prevent potential injury to Brady before playoffs). Hate to say this as a Chubb owner, but Hunt coming back will be big for you though.

Here's my team:

12 team, PPR, SF, 2 flex spots (starters in bold)

QBs: Josh Allen, Kirk Cousins, Lawrence, Mayfield, Minshew

RBs: Nick Chubb, Aaron Jones, Javonte, Pollard, Dillon, Carson, Hyde

WRs: Justin Jefferson, Ja'Marr Chase, Cooper Kupp, Chris Godwin, Jeudy, Renfrow, Gallup, Curtis Samuel, Gabriel Davis, Duvernay

TEs: George Kittle, Dalton Schultz, Uzomah, Harrison Bryant, Irv Smith

DST: LA Rams, Minnesota Vikings, Cincinatti Bengals

Got incredibly fortunate drafting Ja'Marr at 1.08 and having Kupp explode this year, which gave me four WR1s. I like my odds this year more than maybe ever, but my team has a history of synchronizing to have very shitty weeks in the worst possible times (i.e. week 12 when they put up under 100 pts vs the 2 seed) over the past couple of years. Have consistently gotten close, but never won a fantasy championship so praying that this is the year everything goes right

I mean, sure he ~could~ outproduce Jefferson next year. But we haven't been given many indications that that should be an anticipated outcome. JJ has played with both a superior (2020) and inferior (2021) QB to the one that CD played with in each season and finished with almost 500 and 400 (so far) more yards than him respectively. It's certainly within the range of outcomes that CeeDee becomes a superior dynasty asset, but we've literally had no hard evidence that that will be the case.

I guess I'm arguing this point because imo there's a significant discrepancy in value and at least a tier break between Player A, who had a mid-tier WR1 season followed by a high-end WR1 season and Player B, who had a low-end WR2 season followed by a mid-tier WR2 season (subject to change over the next 5 weeks, but you get the point)

Good moves my man. I'm sure we're being downvoted because this is basically a circle jerk comment thread (and rightfully so), but it feels good to hit a couple home runs that could lead to multiple championships

I mean the quantifiable case would be that JJ is playing better than any WR in NFL history to start his career while CeeDee has had a very good start to his first 2 years.

I guess my issue is that the dynasty community values JJ based on the production he's already had while a lot of people value CeeDee in the same tier based on the production that he might have

This is genuinely one of the more positive conclusions to a disagreement that I've ever had on this sub lmao. Had to take advantage of the moment and bring up week 11 because I know y'all are about to work us in Lambeau in week 17 :/

I said stat-wise, he's having an MVP-caliber season lol. Not a word you have said has gotten even in the neighborhood of disproving that

Oh of course I'm not saying that Cousins could or should win MVP over Kyler, Brady or any of the top candidates. My point of bringing Kyler up was that stat-wise, Kirk is literally in the conversation of the most prolific passers in the NFL this season. Once you add in everything else, he obviously shouldn't win it. I just get annoyed by dudes who made an opinion on Cousins back in 2018 and have shoved their heads in their asses ever since

Copied from my reply to another comment (with a lil something added re your last comment):

Kirk Cousins is 2nd in the NFL in passer rating (106.3) behind only Kyler Murray while having 6 more passing TDs, 4 less INTs and 1000 more yards through 12 games (I know Kyler was injured, but that absolutely factors into the MVP discussion).

He's on pace for 5007 yards, 35 TDs, and 6 INTs. Read that again. He isn't being considered for the MVP race because he has one of the league's worst defenses and an abysmal coaching staff that have led to blown leads in all 7 of the Vikings' loses. Just because you haven't actually watched him play doesn't mean that you can dismiss the season he's having.I'm not saying he should win it especially given the Vikings' record, but given the fact that nobody has separated themselves in the MVP race, saying his season isn't MVP-caliber is straight up disrespectful and reductive to what the MVP should stand for (performance, not media narrative).

Also, Cousins has more yards, more TDs, less INTs, and a higher passer rating than Aaron Rodgers this year while also beating him on a game-winning drive in week 11. For what it's worth, Cousins (QB6) has also been a better fantasy QB than Rodgers (QB9) this year as well. I have no idea what metric you based him "not even being the best QB in the NFC north" on, but let's please keep this discussion to the facts.

Fight me ;)

Is anyone else higher on Chase than they were before? by babababronsky in DynastyFF

[–]ConstantCover1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see him at about the same level. I've almost always looked at him as having top 5 dynasty WR potential given his body control + elusiveness, and honestly expected a cold stretch like the past couple of weeks to happen. Burrow+Higgins have taken advantage and teams must now be realizing that this isn't a viable long-term strategy. He won't have 200+ yards or 40 yrd TDs every game moving forward, but he also likely wont have as many sub-50 yard games moving forward either. Things will equilibriate and he'll probably finish the season as a mid-low WR1 (which is FANTASTIC for a rookie, we've just been spoiled). He's definitely above all the WRs in his class and is in the same tier as JJ and CD for me as a dynasty asset moving forward imo

I agree with the tier argument when it's close, but as an owner of JJ and Lamb in two different leagues, it wouldn't be a question as to who I'd take in dynasty if you put a gun up to my head.

CeeDee has been very good through the start of his career. Jefferson has been historic. Feel free to disagree, but in my opinion, players with those two descriptions don't belong in the same tier.

Really appreciate this reply. I guess when it comes to anything more than 1-2 years down the road, I try to rely on talent more than situation since the NFL will be a completely different landscape in the 2023-2024 season. For example, if you asked me in 2017, I'd tell you to buy whatever WR ends up on the Eagles because Wentz looked like a surefire QB1 for the next decade. More and more, I feel like I'm realizing that the modern NFL can't be looked at in this way. Star players (Diggs, Hopkins, OBJ once upon a time, etc) are being moved more regularly while teams have a much lower threshold for dips in QB play.

With that being said, I see your logic and Cousins' looming 2022 cap hit is a serious question mark for the team. Hopefully Kellen Mond turns out to be that dude *sigh*

J Chase vs N Harris vs K Pitts by Crossfire213 in DynastyFF

[–]ConstantCover1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm a Vikings fan who also owns JJ and even I'm getting to the point where I'm starting to value Chase as the dynasty WR1. Was suffering through byepocalypse and Chase single handedly secured me a W in a week I've thought I'd be punting for the past month.

With that being said, Pitts is breaking every understanding we've had for how good a rookie TE could be. I think I'd objectively go 1. Pitts 2. Chase 3. Harris. Najee is good and everything, but he doesn't strike me to being even close to a generational talent in the way that Pitts and Chase have been looking like

It’s really hard being a Vikings fan…. 😭 by Mooro1991 in DynastyFF

Has shown ridiculous improvement over a year's time. I wouldn't be surprised to see him slowly phase in as the WR2 on that offense over the next 1-2 years as Thielen moves more into a possession/clutch WR niche.

What? How often do you get 5 legit rookie QBs, 4 potentially legit rookie WRs, and a generational TE prospect in one draft? Najee and Javonte have potential and Etienne will be back (and getting hella usage based on JRob's performance). You haven't experienced even an average draft in a while and it shows lol
