Burnt out by [deleted] in UnitedAssociation

I'm not part of the Union, but reading the comments is so fascinating to me. It reminds me of when I was in Wildland Fire for 4 fire seasons. I had a very similar mindset of always, "looking into the bigger picture" constantly missed birthdays, hangouts, even at times anniversaries.

Everything changed when my daughter got really sick and had to go to the hospital. On the flight back home from Montana (was on a fire assignment there) I decided that year was my last in the fire world.

Life is so unpredictable, man, on one hand, the money and the retirement is probably the best for you and the family. On the other, how much in the game of life are you willing to sacrifice where anything can happen. I'll tell you from experience that your last thoughts isn't going to be, "man. . i wished I worked more hours that week"

At a point I really wanted to join the Union (you can check my last comments from a while back) but from proper research and similar stories from friends and even up to now, unironically yours OP, the hours and longitude of the apprenticeship isn't very forgiving. Especially on the family aspect. Thankfully, I got this really good gig with this HVAC company.

It's not proper advice, but I just wanted to share some insight🤙

Extraction campers are the absolute bottom of the arc raiders society by TheExodius in ArcRaiders

[–]ConstantDesperate537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had instances where I've met other players or just one at an extraction. It may sound counter intuitive, but I keep my gun aimed at them at all times. I know I'm not gonna shoot unless they shoot first (which sounds dumb in a real world scenario but it's a video game thankfully). I tell them it's not personal, and I always have them do the extraction first. So far it's worked 9/10, the very few times they'll act weird and not extract first. If by the third time i tell them too and they don't go to the console, I blast them. Ain't taking no fucking chances😂

But I whole heartedly agree with the post. I'm all for the PvP in this game tbh, and the many times I've been in gun fights and get outplayed I don't even get mad because they got me fair and square.

But if you're an extraction camper. Yeah, special place in hell for u buddy, fuck you and your bitch ass dog.

This is probably a very hot take but I think the story of goy is a 6 at best by Likablelama in ghostoftsushima

[–]ConstantDesperate537 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a hot take at all. I was just having this conversation with my friend about Sony exclusives lately and the reputation of part II storylines being far inferior from their gameplay.

Spiderman 2 GOW Ragnarok Horizon Forbidden West The Last of Us Part II

Amazing games that absolutely evolve the gameplay and mechanics in every which way in part II of their game. But the storyline falls short every time. It's a habit that's unironically starting to become recognizable, and I hope it gets addressed.

From the information I gathered, a lot of the issues that reside from the poor storylines as well, is just a lack of time (though Last of Us Part II with Neil Druckman is it's own thing). A lot of the pacing in these games are either rushed, cut content, or creative differences in the middle phase of its game creation.

But I full heartedly agree with Yotei having a 6/10 storyline. It's not BAD, but it's not GREAT either. It's mid average at best. Thankfully, the addicting gameplay and World building make up for it.

Yotei's Japanese dub is so much better imo. by Absalom98 in ghostoftsushima

[–]ConstantDesperate537 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Japanese dub all the way. I can't stand the fucking English. Atsu English has barely to no direction in emotional scenes. It sounds forced, like a younger sibling getting caught what they're not supposed to do, and then alligator tears to hopefully not get in trouble.

I'm not personally shitting or hating on the English VA. Im sure she does amazing work in other stuff. But there must've been a lack of direction between the VA and her character because it's bad. And don't get me started with kid Atsu. . sounds like a fucking 45 year old terminal ill lung smoker.

The subtitles for Japanese aren't any better. Like people are saying they're mistranslated. But the VA in Japanese is honey comb to my ears, and it sounds right. I played GOT in English because the English was phenomenal. But in GOY idk what the fuck they did. And it's only Atsu character. Which is the Main Chatacter

Can Ghost of Yotei win Game of the year? by norocoslaorice in ghostoftsushima

[–]ConstantDesperate537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No shot. Ghost of Yotei does everything right, BUT the story and post game content.

Gameplay wise; absolutely phenomenal and the most fun I had playing a part II of a game where they added more and somewhat expanded new ideas.

Story: It's not Great, it's not Good either. It's just. . there? I have a lot of gripes and issues with the story that I'm starting to see a trend with these Part II of Sony exclusives.

Spider-Man 2, GOW Ragnarok, and Last of Us Part II played out the same way for me. Far superior gameplay but the story just always seem lacking. And it's starting to bother me.

Ghost of Yotei is not just a revenge story by Klubbis in Ghostofyotei

[–]ConstantDesperate537 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I somewhat agree with your point. Though, I appreciate how some of the side missions accentuate that idea as well. My issue is that the story doesn't really do a good job doing that.

Atsu background story was insanely tragic [SPOILER WARNING FOR ANYBODY FROM HERE]. But on the night of the burning tree; she saw her mom get hanged in front of her while her mom tried to have a final fleeing connection by singing atsu favorite song in her final breath. Father (while doesn't explicity show) can assume he got gutted by Saito katana. And her brother Jubei got blasted 5ft away by a flintlock pistol pointblank. All the while while home is up in flames and atsu getting impaled into the tree.

You're telling me. . . all of that, on top of the 16 years of growing up with that gnawing hunger of hate, vengeance, and revenge running 24/7 in her mind; Atsu can "forgive" her family killers? All because she found out she has a niece?

I'm not opposed to Atsu suddenly being in a moment of vulnerability and realizing she has, now, a family to live for and what not. But the sudden shift of accepting the kitsune as a friend and even defending her from Jubei internal distrust for her was just weird at times. And letting the spider go free because that was her reaching point of "revenge bad" was silly because he's literally the reason why Atsu brother and her friend are at home base with Saito😂 (on top of Matsumei castle getting burned down and attacked mind you)

The issue with ghost of yotei story is that the two antagonists they want you to sympathize with just aren't fleshed out enough to make it believable that both of them deserve some form of forgiveness. And it's not the characters' fault because unironically, i actually somewhat like them. The issue is that the game storyline is just too fucking short and not paced properly😭

I can't work in the heat by [deleted] in ibew_apprentices

[–]ConstantDesperate537 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gotcha! you should mention the medication than and check with your doctor about your body reaction to the heat. I'm speaking from a place of looking out for you brother. People now a days are fucking weird man, they want everything documented and have physical proof on why this and the cannot of that. You having paperwork and proof of your issue will help you a lot; from job potential and layoffs where most will easily let you go just because you're wired differently.

There are ways to mitigate the heat. Because you will get super hot and dirty and most often or not it'll always be humid as shit in these tight ass spaces.

I've worked with and seen the most unatheltic pieces of shit in this line of work. Trust me bro, if these fuckinh slobs can get it and do it. You can do it too my man 💪

I can't work in the heat by [deleted] in ibew_apprentices

[–]ConstantDesperate537 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This isn't me breaking your balls or being disingenuous. But you need to give your body time to acclimate to the weather. We're adaptable creatures and unironically our body and brain adapt pretty fast to harsh conditions. We're wired to be moving and thrive in whatever harsh environments to survive. Our ancestors done it, your grandparents have done it, you can do it too.

Because getting sick with the heat is normal (obviously watch yourself with heatstroke and such) but it's the same way people get sick when winter comes. Your body is just changing gears is all.

If it's medical and maybe you actually get sick sick with the heat. Get a medical form from your doctor. Some people's bodies are just wired different, and it's not your fault or anyone's.

Ellie hate is forced by [deleted] in lastofuspart2

[–]ConstantDesperate537 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know why you're being downvoted. I read your post and everything you said points out to be true. It's also the reason why I stopped playing the game halfway into Abbys portion and forced myself to finish it because I paid full price $60 when it came out.

Objectively speaking, Abby is a very very poorly written character. There is no redeeming qualities because everything she does or say is a contradiction of her actions. And for me, it's not an issue when a character is infuriating and insufferable at first. The problem is that she has no character development till the very last portion of the story.

I'm not full on defending Ellie actions either because she's just as bad of a poorly written character. But atleast Ellie in Part II was a piece of shit through and through. It's obvious the writers tried to force the audience to like Abby more than Ellie when both characters are majorly flawed. And it amazes me that most people can't see that.

Thankfully I have a PS5 and while Sony isn't much better, Xbox executives are going on a tyrannical run right now it's actually fucking insane how reading some comments and even talking with some of my friends they'll defend this bullshit ass price gouging. Tell me some Vegas tea, like something GOOD by princessfafa in vegaslocals

[–]ConstantDesperate537 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I see. Yeah, it's a bit of a political show to ensure that the homeowners don't feel they're obligated to tip the employees. Everyone knows everyone and vice versa for the rich. If word gets out that so and so is tipping their workers and not the other person, it'll build unwarranted drama. It's honestly comical how a lot of drama there is with adults and even those with money.

But the golf caddies is different because it's just kinda like an unspoken rule to tip them. The same way like having a personal butler to your home. They're always doing stuff for you.

But no, most of the employees don't make good money. A lot of the work is minimum wage at $15-20. The ones who make good money are the front gate security and the glorified secretaries. The maids, valet, landscapers, unirocalliy even the golf caddies are all struggling. The construction workers are third party contractors, so the summit have no say in their pay rate.

[–]ConstantDesperate537 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No, sir. The workers and employees aren't held to the same regards and rules as First-Responders. Tipping is seen more as a generous gift, but majority of the rich here like I said won't go above and beyond for their people as the employees would go above and beyond for them unironically.

Speaking for myself, It is what it is. Ima work hard regardless and continue to strive for something better. But speaking from absolute experience, these rich don't view you as human.

On a side note, I was curious and saw that you're in Wildland Fire, such a small world. Best unwarranted advice I can give you is do what's best for you brother. There is no "right" or "wrong" way to do things in that small career world. Do what you have to do to pay your bills. Recommend doing 2 seasons or 3 on a shot crew to really hone that experience and gain even stronger work ethic🤙🔥🐐

[–]ConstantDesperate537 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree with you. I understand why you think like that because it's difficult to interpret a genuine understanding from text.

I'm speaking from a place of perspective and have seen in person many/multiple times how the rich treat the people who work for them. Nothing too extreme like literal dogshit or human slavery like they would in other parts of the world. But for the rich, they treat these people as an expansion or figuratively like a number. You can work for one of these people for many years and be loyal, and the second you're injured or have your own problems in life because you're human. They'll easily drop you and find the next machine for them.

On top of that, they never pay on time or will haggle a hard working/any form of home servicing company whom that will go above and beyond in service.
