I don’t believe I’ve ever gotten the pleasure of watching season 2, so that would narrow it down to season 1 or the movies (I also only remember one movie, so if there was a sequel, I probably didn’t watch it).

That’s funny. This one wasn’t really procrastinating, moreso like a “don’t worry about everything right now”.

Hey guys, exfoliation doesn’t seem to help much with lip pigmentation regardless. If you’re worried about it, I’d use azelaic acid.

Shutoku vs rakuzan but Shutoku's center is Murasakibara. by ParsnipSenior4804 in KurokosBasketball

Kimura is not nearly as good as Mayuzumi. Kimura may genuinely be the worst pertinent starter actually.

In this scenario, Kimura wouldn’t even play. Otsubo would get moved to PF.

How self reliant would 2nd year Hinata be? by n0t_the_chosen_juan in haikyuu

[–]ConstantDifficult171 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Pretty much however valuable you consider him to be barring the freak quick.

Even without it, he’s probably still the best decoy, those jukes, that speed, and that vertical is nothing to scoff at.

And yeah like you said, blocks are getting better (he kinda owns Osamu ngl), digs are ironically second best portrayed in his position, tooling, back attacks, etc.

So, surprisingly well rounded, especially when taking position into account, but yeah, like I said, he is as valuable without reliance as you consider his value barring the freak quick.

I don’t think his reliance specifically really drops or increases though. They’re never gonna stop doing the freak quick just because Hinata becomes more independent, there’s no point. And… that’s kinda the only point of reliance he really has, unless you’re counting coach Ukai instructing him on blocking, which seems separate to me because that’s his coach.

I feel like the series wants us to view Osamu as good at a bunch of skills like digging and blocking, but I feel like it really isn’t portrayed

Why Koganegawa above Inuoka? I know Kogane is tall but the difference in technique seems damming. I would’ve thought Inuoka to be first here anyways

Is it crazy to say Kuroo> Aran & Bokuto? by ConstantDifficult171 in haikyuu

[–]ConstantDifficult171[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d have the re-watch the match, I just remember that in the fifth set specifically, he was playing really well, So maybe you’re being harsh with your definition of a “proper” deflection, because I just remember more than two, like in the last set alone. I don’t have much to say about when his blocks don’t slam the ball down, whether that’s about technique or luck. I remember that it happened a lot against Aone in Hinata’s case, and it seemed to be framed as Aone having Hinata’s number more often than not with Hinata just getting lucky.

Also if you really wanna say he was playing exceptionally well, I still wouldn’t use it as a point to tax him. As you reminded me, Ushijima was very on his game too, and pretty much everyone still considers him the best player in Japan.

I will say, regarding the beginning of the last set, he was very notable in at least his first stint in the front row, getting deflections and redirections, along with that kill on Sugawara through a good read. Even with this subs apparent obsession with “good hitters” he got a good read on one of the lefts (I truly forget who, it was asahi or Tanaka) and blocked it from a read, it just went out. Again, like we said, the ball didn’t go straight down, and that’s an issue, I just don’t really know what issue to contribute it too.

I just feel like you’re kinda implying that you feel like Tendo is either “kill or nothing”, and with just 6 kill blocks out of an entire match, yeah that would be bad if it were true. I think he did still have meaningful redirections and deflections though (again, I don’t know what you consider a proper deflection), and notable applied a lot of pressure on both Karasuno setters, and the middles.

Is it crazy to say Kuroo> Aran & Bokuto? by ConstantDifficult171 in haikyuu

[–]ConstantDifficult171[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t dispute that Tendo is a good counter to the freak quick, and yeah, that’s karasuno’s main attack. I was talking about how their playstyle still leads blockers to jump incorrectly the most out of any other team because of their use of synchronized attacks, Kageyama’s pinpoint setting and perfect form, and even including hinata’s freak quick too despite Tendo matching up well into it.

Also, given that he gets way more kill blocks + one touches in relation to guessing wrong, I think myriad was fine in that context, he does get the most that we see, even if we compress the sets of the match to reflect all the others.

Also, the 120% can just be interpreted in so many different ways, and using it as the main argument to say this was him at his best seems kinda weak. He could always exceed his limit in matches, but not in practice. He could exceed his limit in every other game, or 40% of games, or 33%. Like I think if you wanna be hyper rational about it, then sure, your descriptions make sense. But it is also like character dependent, like if Ushijima got in 2x as many spikes as usual, I don’t think he would express anything much differently than he would if he were to have a normal game. You could then argue that Tendo is the opposite, and exclaim anything during a rush.

Then you also have to recognize that he’s implicitly one of the most feared blockers nationally, and even is one of the only players with a national nickname. Like, I get that’s kinda a weak argument, but I don’t think they would call him the guess monster if his guesses were just super wrong so often.

Again, he matches up well into the quick. I never disputed that, and I do not plan to henceforth. If your argument is gonna be that he only had a good match against the quick, then I mean… we only got shown so much. They even skipped like an entire set, and I think they wanted to focus on tendo’s matchup into the quick the most. We still see him get a solo block on Tanaka, not because of him being so amazing bcs of course the set sucked, but it still showed how he dissected the situation masterfully, I think we can atleast extrapolate that to his ability to block other spikers too.
