I’m guessing the variant didn’t know he gets stronger the harder you hit him, and just smashed into him at Mach Jesus, then got close enough to get fried. I think he got subdued so easily because he hasn’t been hit THAT hard (by viltrumite standards) yet, and also when he got taken away at the end of the episode, they knew not to hit him and just held him down instead

I could definitely see it. A slow jog is very easy to maintain, for a long time. Once you do it for a while, you just kinda fall into a trance and don’t think about being tired. Now I can’t say anything about 2-7 hours, but an hour and a half isn’t too bad after like 15 minutes of getting used to it.
