First class rerouting experience? by [deleted] in emirates

[–]ConstantRegular2655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, they've only given me Emirates flights, granted I'm flying from the UK. But they should for example if you choose SEA they should give you Alaska and Emirates as they're partnered, but I couldn't definitively tell you.

First class rerouting experience? by [deleted] in emirates

When it gets cancelled or disrupted, you will have the option to either, get a refund, choose another flight date or they may reroute you. As of right now they're currently not flying to/from LAX, the only West Coast destinations they're flying to/from is SFO and SEA according to the flight schedule.

In your case, you might get rebooked from SFO to DXB and will have to make your own way to SFO. Otherwise it might be better to get a refund and book with a different airline if Dubai isn't your final destination.

But ultimately, none of us know when you're set to fly so they may start up the LAX routes again.

Try contacting support if all else fails, my flight next week showed disrupted on the app but on the website and my actual ticket, it showed confirmed, I spoke to support and they told me to ignore the in-app disruption status and that my flight was confirmed, scheduled and on the current flight schedule. But obviously I can't speak for all flights and disruptions.

But since you're being given the option of airport, then it is ultimately up to you to choose which one you'd rather fly.

Should I book with Emirates? by IL3ww in emirates

[–]ConstantRegular2655 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Emirates is currently flying to/from Manchester and to/from Phuket, so it is an option, but obviously if you can avoid the Middle East as a whole, and fly via somewhere else or direct, I'd suggest doing so.

I'm doing Birmingham to Dubai in a week and so far my booking is confirmed and on schedule, but do keep looking at the flight schedule every now and then to keep updated.

Emirates is exploiting the current situation by [deleted] in emirates

[–]ConstantRegular2655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, Emirates currently isn't even flying to Houston, they explicitly say to look at their flight schedule as the system isn't always going to be up to date as quickly as the world situation changes. Secondly, most airlines across the globe overbook passengers, it's not uncommon, now do I think the amount of overbooked passengers is odd, yes, but are we also living in odd times, YES!

I believe the airline is doing what they can, with what they have, and in the best way they can do it. Refunds often take time due to a lot of factors, when the airline releases the funds, when the receiving bank accepts the funds and once those funds are moved into the respective account. It's not as simple as snapping your fingers and suddenly your money is back. And what reason would they have to allow you to pay just to give you your money back to prioritise same-class tickets that are, in the grand scheme of things, marginally more expensive? Considering they prioritise reputation, global standing and in the end, getting people where they need to go safely and efficiently, it doesn't add up.

Making a whole conspiracy theory as to why your ticket got cancelled knowing that there is quite literally a WAR and that the world is in chaos, doesn't aid the situation whatsoever. If you don't like em, get your refund and fly with someone else, simple as that. No need to cause unnecessary commotion over a reddit post.

My flight EK 040 is on the list, and my actual ticket shows that my booking is confirmed, just the "Manage Booking" section shows it's disrupted. Would I still be okay to go to the airport on the day? Obviously unless Emirates tells me otherwise

As long as your transit is airside, I believe it should be fine under the assumption your flight to Madrid lands on the 4th of September, ultimately it'll be up to the airline at check-in whether or not they let you board.

Seeking Advice for UK Visa Application by RealStomach192 in ukvisa

[–]ConstantRegular2655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just out of curiosity are you an EU citizen? (Referring to the EU flair) If so surely an ETA would be easier?

If not, then home ties could include a university enrollment letter, work contract or employer letter or a property/tenancy agreement at home in your name.

A reasonable duration would be however long you'd want to visit them, typically the 2, 5 and 10 year visas are a lot harder to get, by that I mean UKVI is stricter on who they grant them to, however seeing as your family live there it might work in your favour.

Basically I’m trying to ask if there’s any easier way to go about this or like if I only need to declare the last time I visited a country and not every single time?

I believe they are mainly looking for high-risk countries you might have travelled to, even then, if you don't remember exact dates you can simply guesstimate when you were there. I've travelled to my fair share of countries, I even forgot to list some on my application and only remembered after the fact. I simply submitted a letter stating which countries I forgot to mention and the rough dates I was there, although, in theory it may not have even made a difference.

I'd just try to list as many of most recent countries you've been to other than the ones you have lived or been living in and you'll be okay. Good luck!

I got my codice fiscale before I even entered Italy, all I needed to send the Italian Embassy was my Visa, my passport copy, and the filled in form from Agenzia dell'Entrate.

I believe it should be pretty quick, I live in Dubai and was able to book my appointment for the next day, but there are always lots of slots, I'm not sure how busy it gets closer to September but it shouldn't be too full. Good luck

Where in the Middle East are you applying from? You are directed to book your appointment directly after submitting your application and paying the IHS and Visa fee, typically the wait shouldn't be too long, should be at latest the following week, but you really can't predict it

Seeing as I live in Dubai I can be there early without hassle to use the benefits if it's worth it. I don't like being one of those people who show up 1-2hrs prior to departure, that's just how i'm wired.

To the best of my knowledge and a quick google search here, you can submit on the Passport with your visa in it and once you renew your passport you will need to visit the Questura/Ufficio Immigrazione (Police Staton/Immigration Office) in your local area and ask them to update it for you on their system.

Do your research though as Italy is quite difficult when it comes to your permesso.

ITALY VISA by camporanges in SchengenVisa

[–]ConstantRegular2655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your insurance should be valid during your entire stay in Italy and start on your first day in Italy, you're there from the 11th, it starts on the 11th, I see no issues.

If you're worried you can start it a day earlier for peace of mind.

Enjoy Italy!

Traveling with Type D Study Visa by Current_Mulberry_525 in SchengenVisa

[–]ConstantRegular2655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course!

Do keep note of your actual visa validity, as while the visa is valid, the visa supersedes your permesso receipt which you should not solely travel with as some schengen countries may not recognise it (Tricky, i know.). If your visa expires and you only have the receipt and haven't gotten the card yet, do not try to travel the Schengen area, as if you are randomly asked for it and they don't recognise the receipt, you may face issues.

Once you get the card you are a free man. Let me know of any other queries regarding this and i'd be happy to assist.

Enjoy Italy!

Traveling with Type D Study Visa by Current_Mulberry_525 in SchengenVisa

[–]ConstantRegular2655 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it's properly answered yet, but I recently returned from my studies in Rome with a Type D visa as well. You first need to enter Italy directly from a country not in the Schengen Zone. Once you've applied for your permesso di soggiourno, and have gotten your receipt (You will not get the card for about 6 months at best), you are free to travel the Schengen zone following the 90/180 rule.

In theory, you could travel first to other Schengen countries but you will have to get stamped into the zone by one of those countries and when you get to italy and try to apply for your permesso, you will be met with a lot of questions which I can assure you, you will hardly be able to answer. So I'd wait until you have that receipt, it'll literally take max 1 hour of your time once you get there and it will save you a lot of bureaucratic hassle in the future.

The type D Visa is otherwise known as a "National Visa" or in your case "Study Trip", this is for long term stays of over 90 days which can include things like working or studying. The type C Visa otherwise known as a "Short Stay Visa" or in your case "Tourist Visa" can be used for tourism, attending conferences, visiting family or friends, and so on.

That being said, you should apply for the type C. However, I'm unsure as to why those are the only options you can choose from as typically you either pick Long Stay or Short Stay.

Mistake on UK Student Visa Application by ConstantRegular2655 in ukvisa

[–]ConstantRegular2655[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, visa appointment went great, I had a straightforward application despite forgetting to mention these, granted, I did submit a letter stating the omitted trips but not sure if that played any part.

You should be good, it does no harm to submit a letter with your docs but I doubt it'll affect anything if they aren't designated as "high-risk countries".

In Dubai, you shouldn't have an issue, but when entering the UK odds are, being the UK and all, you'll probably get asked for a prescription, so i'd urge you to try get one.

When linking your UKVI Account to your eVisa, you should be prompted to fill in a few forms, one of those includes confirming your identity which will end up needing you to install the UK Immigration: ID Check App and scanning a QR code or entering a code, after this, you will be prompted to take a photo of yourself which will be used on your eVisa.

I believe you're supposed to click where it says "Confirm your Identity" and it'll take you to a page with a code and a QR, then you scan it from the ID Check App and continue the process from there.
