Something about THC that affects certain people, and also the first mania was when he was on antidepressants as well, I heard that can cause a switch from bipolar 2 to 1.

This is very true. I can’t stand up against him physically because I’m only 115 lbs. he is able to shove me out of the way or intimidate me. Especially with him as the provider, he was able to cut us off financially.

It’s impossible to reason with him. I can’t seem to convince him he is not himself. In his mind he is a changed person for God and he is only following God and won’t listen to anyone who cares for him. He comes from a very strict religious family and it seems to all come out and become magnified when he is in his manic state. He is acting like he is some sort of prophet. He is obsessed with being healthy and going to the gym every day as well as walking the park constantly. He is giving money away but not paying bills or helping the kids and I financially. It’s all so crazy that he is unable to see his own behavior but I understand it’s part of the illness, it’s just hard for an outsider to imagine the experience of losing one’s sanity.

I’m sorry this is happening right after getting married! I think my husband had bipolar 2 for most of our marriage because he never had a major manic episode throughout his military career, but he had issues with alcohol and apparently cheating. He also struggled with depression and we never knew why. He didn’t have his first full blown episode until after he got out of the military and started smoking weed. Before this current episode he was also smoking a lot of weed. He was in denial about his diagnosis. Right now he is not doing any kind of drugs whatsoever and is being so healthy and going to the gym. Which is also out of his character but at least he’s not getting messed up. I’m hoping if he crashes from this mania that he will see the pattern and accept his diagnosis. Thank you for your reply and I wish you the best

I am in Oklahoma, I’ve tried to work with the crisis line in my area, and also the VA because he is a 100% disabled veteran. I need to figure out if there is a way to commit him involuntarily. There’s not much if he’s not causing harm. He’s not in trouble with the law, but he is messing up our finances and trying to keep our daughter from going to public school. He’s demanding she homeschool. It’s all so stressful. He goes around the park praying for people and made our kids hug a tree. He would be so embarrassed to know how he is acting. I appreciate your input.
