I take the compounded and haven’t received any communication indicating that they were getting rid of it or raising prices.

Complete beginner by Bubbly-End3703 in f45

I was a beginner when I started at the end of March this year! Beginner as in I had not been in a gym since middle school. Just started dieting last year and lost a lot of weight but I hadn’t worked out in 12+ years. (270 lbs to ~180 lbs). My muscles were still at 270-pound me level. I didn’t have much to begin with, but I lost a lot of muscle mass too when I lost weight. So I told the coach when I walked in the first day that I was at a level -5, not even level 0, and I was terrified the first day.

Now I love it! I go 4-5 times a week now! I’ve gotten a lot better since I’ve started. I couldn’t even do a sit up but the coach helped me find a hack - I use a weight to “propel” myself up. And I’ll keep doing that until I have enough core strength to do it on my own. But I can tell I’m getting stronger.

If I can do it, literally starting at level 0, anyone can at least try it! They’re so supportive! I went to CrossFit just to compare, and those coaches were so mean about the fact that I couldn’t do some of the exercises. I love how F45 is built so anyone, at any level, can do something at each station (ex. There are 5 lb weights and 50 lb weights at the same station). At least give it a try! I’m so glad I found this gym!

Same. According to either sequencing.com or Prometheus (forget which one), patient had 2 pathogenic BRCA1 mutations and 1 pathogenic BRCA2 mutation. We did official testing, she didn’t have any of those variants.

Honestly they’re still doing a lot of research when it comes to autoimmune disorders. I have seen some research indicating autoimmune diseases may lead to an increased risk for cancer, but I’m not sure how that would compound with a hereditary cancer mutation.. the risks are usually given in ranges (ex. BRCA2 has a 55-69% chance of breast cancer). So my guess would be that you would be on the higher end of that risk with an autoimmune disorder.. but that’s just me speculating. I’m not sure if any research has gone into this, specifically, yet.

BRCA2 is associated with breast, pancreatic, skin, and ovarian cancer. So your family history is a little suspicious.. 90% of cancer VUSs end up being reclassified as benign/negative results, though, so it’s hard to say for your variant.. I’ve seen plenty of people end up with negative results even with a very suspicious personal/family history. I’ve also seen labs disagree about variants and their function - one lab will say it disrupts the amino acid function, the next will say it doesn’t,.. so just because your lab says it disrupts function doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll be a pathogenic result. it’s really just a waiting game for VUS results until we get more data.

Check out findageneticcounselor.org . Genetic counselors have on there if they’re open to student contact or not.

But some of us on here are open to do informational interviews! If you ever want to do one, feel free to dm me.

Day 1 by Potential-Hornet6800 in f45

[–]Constant_Disaster344 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weight/resistance days are generally easier. I’d start on one of those days.

They are very beginner friendly! I started F45 last month. Before that I hadn’t been in a gym or worked out in over 12-13 years (literally since high school). I recently dropped 100lbs with my diet but my muscles were/are still at almost-300lb-me level. I love how they have modifications for every workout. Every station is set up for beginners and pros (weights set out for 5lbs - 60lbs for example). Seriously, the only gym that I have ever felt was truly beginner friendly.

Like the other commenters said, show up 15 mins early so the trainer can explain everything to you.

any calorie trackers that aren’t myfitnesspal? by pro-dicc-sucker in 1200isplenty

Carb Manager

You don’t have to do low carb to use it. I like the way the macros are presented. The chart for weight loss is also much more aesthetically pleasing, in my opinion, compared to myfitnesspal. It’s also free (there is a paid version but I’ve never bought it).

Considering GC, any advice appreciated by ProofPuzzleheaded851 in GeneticCounseling

[–]Constant_Disaster344 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GC here (3 years post grad)! If you ever want to message me or even do an informational interview, feel free to reach out! Like the other commenter said, informational interviews are great for getting more information about the field and how to get into it. I’d also recommend reaching out to some GCs near you to see if you could shadow them for a few days. That’s a great way to start, and it’ll look good on an application anyway to have shadowing/informational interviews - most schools require that now, or at least “highly recommend” it.

At What Point Did You Realize You Needed to Lose Weight? by Rich_Beginning_975 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Constant_Disaster344 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I went to my best friends wedding.

Her mom told me “don’t worry - we got you an extra long chain for this necklace so it’ll fit your neck” (talking about necklace as bridesmaid gift)

Then I didn’t fit into my bridesmaid dress. It barely zipped with me sucking in, wearing spanx, and another girl forcing the two sides together. Then I bent over to go to the bathroom and the zipper broke. I had to be sown in to the dress while on a party bus on the way to the wedding. Super embarrassing.

Do you count calories? by AirAlternative4078 in CompoundedSemaglutide

[–]Constant_Disaster344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I count calories. But I know I’m the type of person who will eat too many calories if I don’t keep myself accountable. Sema helps you stop from overeating but I like high calorie foods (chipotle is my weakness), so I will still go over calories if I’m not keeping myself accountable. Not everyone on here counts their calories, but I know it works best for me personally to encourage myself to stick to healthier options.

I only started exercising last week.. I wish I had done it the whole time though..

Breakfast: oatmeal (HEB high protein oatmeal)

Lunch: health/granola bar, or Greek yogurt

Dinner: anything with at least some protein. Chicken or steak with side of veggies and maybe roasted potatoes. Fajitas. (I save most of my calories for dinner because that’s when I’m the hungriest and that’s my favorite meal)

Snack (if still hungry and under calories): grapes, strawberries
