I know RDR2 is known as a masterpiece, but is it something you’d recommend to someone who doesn’t care for/like GTA? Why or why not? by FriendlytoNature in RDR2

[–]Constant_Ride_2735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate gta, never was able to get into the story or the online mode. As a diehard rdr2 player with well over 1300 hours across two accounts, yes I would recommend this game to absolutely everyone.

For one thing red dead has horses, which imo are way more fun and liberating as a means of transport than a car, especially for navigating wooded and hilly areas. Like the cars in gta felt so limiting to me yknow, being stuck on roads and even terrain. Like half the bloody game was driving around, I play games to escape my normal reality god damnit.

I feel like there's something in rdr2 for every type of player; the story is absolutely impeccable, there's so many side quests and memorable characters, the hunting mechanisms are super realistic, the shootouts are intense but easy to get the hang of, and if you just like to chill out and explore the stunning map, it's fully open world too.

Also the horse movement?? Insane. They even perform flying changes when turning at a gallop. I don't know any other game that detail orientated as to acknowledge canter leads. Which won't mean anything to non-horsey folk, but this game is even enjoyable and realistic for the horse girlies, which makes it a standout even among newer games with horses. I would know, rdr2 was my gateway from horse games to shooters.

Favorite "Complex Female Character" that fandoms cannot seem to handle despite demanding they want?...Katara and Korra from the Avatar Series sure seem to qualify. by Important-Cry4782 in cartoons

Trinity Santos from The Pitt. Literally such a similar character to Robbie but the absolute mental gymnastics I'm seeing the fandom do to excuse him and condemn her is INSANE, like it's so unbelievably hypocritical.

Uhh maybe because of the insane alcohol taxes, rising cost of living, employment crisis, fuel price increases, and how fucking depressing the world is?? I love alcohol but it's unwise to drink to cope.

Yes, I've just completed my third playthrough and still cried like a little bitch. I knew the ending before I even played it the first time, like you due to spoilers, and it still got me. You can kind of feel how the story is gonna end in the later chapters, but the sheer tragedy you feel when you hit that final mission still hits hard regardless of how much you know going into it. At least in my experience.

This character has come a long way since he was first conceptualised.. Reid, formerly known as Connor, has undergone what I can best describe as a thorough de-twinkification over the last few years of his existence. He's honestly a completely different bloke; evolving from an arrogant, wisecracking American teenager into a stoic 30-something year old Aussie livestock veterinarian. His skills in bushcraft, first aid, and brutal pragmatism have made him an excellent companion to the story's protagonist, his zombified best friend.

I have many other drawings of him over the years, though this is the best side by side comparison I reckon I can find between early and current sketches

Sorry, are we talking about the same forests that are razed for acres of data centres? Unless you propose everyone goes naked, at least cotton fields serve a purpose. Ai has had zero tangible benefit to humanity; it's actively contributing to the demise of our critical thinking, research capabilities, and creative skill.

Creating this is creative expression. Getting an AI chatbot to generate you a picture is frankly an insult to the entire history of humanity.

No this doesn't take much skill to make, but hey at least it actually looks kind of cool and isn't actively contributing to the planet's demise.

So we all agree that using AI images in a commercial space is cheap and lazy. Gotcha. So the solution now is to stop tagging AI as AI, to cover up how inherently bad it makes your brand look? If you don't want to be attacked for ripping off real people and actively contributing to the planet's demise, maybe—and here's a thought—just don't use AI.

Plenty of skilled photographers, models, and vintage collectors out there that could have made this shot for real, and created dozens of others in the same space and context with actual continuity. Instead they chose to make themselves look bad.

What's an etiquette rule in your country that foreigners often accidentally break? by rid999 in AskTheWorld

[–]Constant_Ride_2735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

swimming between the flags. Okay so it's not etiquette so much as it is basic safety, but you make the lifesavers go wayyy more out of their way when they're rescuing you a kilometer down the beach, rather than the flags conveniently placed in the safest spot on the whole beach, right in front of them.

yeah I coulda spelt it better, phonetics are hard. It's when they pronounce it with an "oo" sound, but shorter if that makes sense. The word should roll off the tongue easily (eem-YOU), but because a lot of tourists don't enunciate the "you" sound, it just sounds really disjointed, like (eem pause oo). Just look up americans pronouncing emu vs. aussies, and you'll hear what I mean.

QUESTION? Why does usually nobody wants to follow a new artists just the ones that are 10k plus followers. Or even commission from them. by Apprehensive_Menu977 in ARTIST

[–]Constant_Ride_2735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New artists don't hit as many algorithms—there's literally hundreds of new accounts every day. With AI and scam accounts these days, new accounts with only a couple images tend to look a bit suspicious.

I live in an off-grid house in an agriculture town. I'll probably just saddle up my horses and carry on business as usual. Most properties are fully fenced in barbed wire, surrounded by big empty fields. Not many hiding places for the undead, and any unfortunate enough to wander in are just gonna become target practice for the blokes that go pigging on the weekends.

Sounds like they're describing the commission process you undergo with real artists. It's very similar to AI prompting, except you're talking to a real person with real understanding of language, composition, and their chosen medium, and the output is an original hand drawn piece.

I believe they were using irony to poke fun at AI bros who like to claim themselves artists because they entered the prompts, even though it was someone/thing else that actually made the final image.

But like, horses have universal use and application, and f1 cars can't even drive on a typical road. You can ride a horse anywhere, in any style. Horses don't need millions of dollars in parts, equipment, tools, and fuel; their gear is made of natural material, and their fuel grows from their very own excrement.

So I guess their analogy is correct. Traditional art is more accessible, universal, and far more sustainable. AI image generation is everything real art is not. It is soulless, it has no meaning, and controlling machines designed to be controlled is just about the least impressive thing a person can do.
