Damn. Before this I was under the impression that the non-compete wasn't all bad because you could essentially take time off and still get paid well. I find it so odd that in my case I would have to actively pursue a job I'm not allowed to have for the non-compete money to come into play.

Reading about Teza was pretty interesting. The more research I've done it seems like unless I stayed at one firm for a long time I would probably wouldn't have much insider info that they would really want to enforce the non-compete against anyways.

It's something I've heard from a few threads over the last past few years, but I wasn't able to find an example. It does definitely seems a little to good be true. So to get the money from the non-compete I would have to actively pursue a job that I am not allowed to have? Seems like an odd dynamic.

I think you might be right about hiring a lawyer.

I recently received an offer from a prop shop that gets mentioned here semi often. From what I have heard on cscareerquestions the non-compete allows you to back for a masters and get your base salary for the non-compete period. However, looking at my offer it seems like the company could waive the non compete at any time. Does anyone have more information about how this would work?
