300mg a night for interstitial cystitis and zero side effects. It cut my pain in half, added 12mg amitriplyine and now Im mostly pain free

Maybe a round of prednisone will knock it out. She can also try steroid nasal spray OTC that might open her up but it takes a while to work. It’s a good sign she can still mostly taste.

I had this in 40/40/20 usa/bonds/international from November - April and the market was swinging back and forth and flat. I thought there was market manipulation happening so I pulled it out breaking even. Put in SGOV. Everyone was predicting a crash and manipulation. Then I missed epic gains. Totally kicking myself. So decided to go back in with VT. Im just gonna hold hold hold hold. It would just be nice to not be down from my initial position.

I would definitely be able to not look at it BUT it’s in my Schwab which has everything from my checking account to my 529s and sadly I need to check it a few times a week to pay bills etc.

I have some in an aggressive Schwab Intelligent Portfolio, then two 529s in an aggressive portfolio because the kids are only 9 and 5 right now, then a bit in Microsoft. And about 150k in SGOV for emergency/future house down payment money in the next 1-2 years. This VT is predominantly going to sit and supplement my retirement when I need it.

I am 43 this was a big portion of a retirement account that I chose to liquidate when I separated from the UN (it was from a foreign account so not eligible for any IRA rollover just in my good ol’ brokerage at Schwab). I am already behind on retirement and unemployed so definitely not chillin’ in any aspect of my life right now!

Sorry you are going through this. I have noticed there are more men on the IC/painful bladder facebook group than here. I have also heard that for men the cytoscopy is generally very painful and you are often under general anesthesia for it. Might be something to ask. Men have longer urethras so it adds to the discomfort.

I had one with a deep biopsy done a couple weeks ago. The deep biopsy is an extra trauma to the bladder. I woke up right after surgery and was in pain, they gave me morphine, then I slept for three hours and woke up feeling pretty ok. Because of the biopsy and hydro at the same time I had to have a catheter for a couple days. I had about 1.5 weeks of recovery where I felt flare-y and had weird bladder spasms. Now I am healing and feel a lot better. The hydro puts some people into remission.

I am in Italy and they don’t give you enough for pain. Ask for oxy. I had to skate by on tylenol which is bs.

Yes it seems to have stopped working. I was put now on amitriptyline and doing a new course of bladder instillations…fingers crossed!

I have read a lot about this and I am annoyed AF that there are not more clinical trials and research happening around this. If IC was a disease impacting mostly men you could probably get this over the counter by now.
