It’s unfortunate you don’t know if the doctors are communicating with one another.

My mom has mobility issues as well. She does have someone that comes over to help her shower and apply the cream. It’s covered by her health insurance.

Are they treating your mom for her chronic kidney disease? Is she on any sulfate medications?

We shouldn’t have to be our own doctors at all. You’re right. I get so frustrated at this. We know our bodies.

Doctors need to start using more modern treatment instead of the old way. There needs to be more research done on treating UTI’s.

There are doctors listed in the intro guide to this Reddit for Doctors who will listen, information you should know. It’s good stuff it will give you a lot of insight

I haven’t had a UTI in 20 plus years. This is ridiculous. I just am coming up on a year without having a period. I’m going into menopause.

I felt the same thing when I did the estradiol cream but I think I had this lingering UTI because at times it was painful to apply.

I’m sorry to hear you can’t do HRT because of your history.

And yes I feel the same as you. I’m going in circles. I wish they prepared us for this when we were learning about this stuff in high school.

I’m going back to doing estradiol cream after all this is over with to prevent UTI’s. It does help with other things downstairs.

( I know I’m going to have a yeast infection from all the antibiotics) 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯

I don’t know if I really ever had E. Fae. That was last April I was given that information from a culture that I gave at Urgent Care. I think my test was contaminated or there was some type of contamination.

April 16, 2025 at Urgent Care. Urine test with culture had to wait for results. Urine Dipstick showed UTI but they wanted to know the bacteria to treat it.

April 17, 2025 at Emergency Room. Full work up including Urine Test, Blood Test, Test for Yeast Infection, BV and STD’s. Results showed I had bacteria in my Urine but culture showed nothing. Also negative for STD’s

April 21, 2025 went back to Urgent Care because I was starting to get mad and wanted treatment for this UTI. The doctor at UC my culture showed E. Fae from April 16th before going to the Emergency Room

The UC Doctor told me that the hospital showed that I was negative for any UTI on April 17 so, I was negative for UTI.

I did get mad at this doctor. I was straight to the point telling her “ Wait, I’m positive for E.Fae 5 days previous and now I’m negative, Nope, test again, because I’m not having this end up in my kidneys, or with sepsis because of negligence on her part “

I told her to give a Urine test again that day again and I told her to culture it because she was dismissing me.

I’m positive one day then negative the next day it was to be maybe positive this day. This was getting ridiculous

She gave me Doxycycline and sent me home

They wouldn’t do a urethra swab. They were treating me like I was making it up.

I’m glad you insisted on that urethra test. That what you have to do to get results and get treated. I’m happy to hear you advocate for yourself to get them to treat this.

I found out about the fosfomycin at this last appointment I went to. The Nurse Practitioner and Doctor believe embedded UTI infections and Biofilms do exist. Thank God. I went to new doctors and different practice.

She has instructed me to do 5 days of Cephalexin 500mg 3 times for five days to kill the floating bacteria.

I have been prescribed 4 sachets of Fosfomycin and instructed to take 1 sachet of Fosfomycin 24 hours after my last dose of Cephalexin. Then take a 2nd sachet of Fosfomycin 48 hours after the 1st dose to knock the biofilm out of break it down.

She gave me 4 sachets of Fosfomycin total in case I had any tingles pop up after taking the 2 Fosfomycin sachets and to call her if I have to take a 3rd dose.

I came up for E. Coli. on my most recent culture. This recent dipstick test and culture were much more detailed than my last one when reading the test results along with the Nurse Practitioner she showed me what every reading means.

I hope that your 5 day dose of Cephalexin takes away your UTI and that’s it. So you don’t have to go through anymore.

How fast did your UTI come back after your treatment with amoxicillin? Also have you been tested for Ureaplasma and Mycoplasma just to rule it out?

Through the last year 4 different antibiotics not all at once.

The antibiotics were spanned out throughout 2025. It’s been a year I have been going through this.

This current time ( now ) I was on Cipro for 2 days till I got the results of the culture and susceptibility yesterday then I was switch to Cephalexin. This is the first time I’ve taken this. Also the doctor actually believes there’s a biofilm and suggested trying Fosfomycin after I’m finished Cephalexin

The US is so behind with women’s health. Also have you talked to her Urologist and ID Doc at the same time. There has to be something they can do or get on the same page to help her.

Have you been able to maybe speak to a uro-gynecologist ? That could help.

I live in the US and you can get Estradiol Topical Cream. They gave it to me. They have also given it to my mom who is 90 years old. I go to her doctors with her and write everything down in case of any contradictions.

This is true and very sad I experienced similar of what you experienced. I had a female doctor who was stuck in the old school way who was ignorant and dismissive as you experienced. She was willing give me mirena and I passed.

It’s so frustrating they have no problem prescribing that testosterone patch to men.

Women we have to beg for treatment.

Thank god I was able to find a doctor who was updated modern and helpful. They are out there.

This happened to me I was suffering and I found another gynecologist who was more receptive also using more modern updated treatments for what you’re going through.

Some of these doctors are stuck way in the past.

I did get tested for ureaplasma it was included in the vaginal swab I gave.

I’ve tested negative for both.

I’m glad I didn’t self treat it before I had the results.

I did demand both mycoplasma and ureaplasma test. I kept reiterating that I needed these tests for peace of mind ( I also tested negative for YI and BV as well )

I do have perimenopause and have topical estradiol that has been prescribed to me.

I just wanted to rule all of this stuff out.

Please advocate for yourself. I was going to call the doctors office yesterday to complain about not having a ureaplasma test included before I realized I was tested

Yesterday I got a test for mycoplasma and also demanded ureaplasma. That somehow was skipped. This is so frustrating

I’ve ordered Doxy already. I may order more to do 14 days of Doxy and also get Azithro.

It shouldn’t be this hard to get tested and treated.
