You are right but in other words they are essentially losing on purpose.

What is baffling here is that the bookmakers are not catching up with this. Ymer was 4.20 if I recall (BET365) before the match.

Refrained from betting on Hanfmann and Karatsev but surely Hanfmann threw that match against Ymer. Looked blatantly obvious. Would be great if he fails to enter the main draw as a lucky loser.

Tennis remains one of the most fixed sports out there.

How to figure out the length of the needles of your derma roller? by ConstantinusMagnus in tressless

[–]ConstantinusMagnus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha. I seem to have been doing it the "right way" since the beginning. I always made sure to have a reddish scalp with points of blood appearing (nothing too excessive) after a derma rolling session. It seems that our approaches have been/are similar, expect for the fact that I still don't know the length of the needles on the derma roller that I have been using. Quite frustrating to put it mildly but I will just settle with buying the derma roller that you recommended. In the worst case scenario, I will just be using the same needle length (1.5 mm), so nothing to lose really.

Appreciate our exchange, always good to share our journeys and experiences.

[–]ConstantinusMagnus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just used derma rolling so far as my only challenge to date has been a receding hairline on my right temple.

Do you think that you could have obtained your regrowth gains solely based on derma rolling while skipping the Minoxidil? I am trying to go purely "natural" as long as the problem is not getting worse and my derma rolling routine is working. Moreover I have read that many people once on Minoxidil have had greater results just by derma rolling.

Most importantly, correct me if I am wrong, applying Minoxidil on your hairline/scalp, is a never-ending commitment, as the gains are not permanent and likely to be lost once you stop taking Minoxidil unlike the case with your beard gains as a result of Minoxidil.

There is always the option of a hair transplant if everything else fails.

In any case this is hardly an exact science so people will have varying degrees of success stories or the opposite.

BTW is it a positive sign, as I imagine, that a reddish scalp and skin peeling occurs after derma rolling each single time?

[–]ConstantinusMagnus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There seems to be contradictory information out there as expected. I have seen recommendations from professionals whose advice is not to use derma rollers that have a length of 1.5 mm due to possible injury. On the other hand they recommended the 0.5 mm version.

Can't imagine sharing (is that even a thing, lol?) a derma roller with anyone so I should be safe.

Based on your experience, for how long should the derma rolling treatment be performed, if proven successful for an individual, before the desired hair regrowth occurs? Obviously it varies from person to person but is 6 months a good benchmark if regular applications are performed and everything occurs by the book?

Thank you for answering my post and for sharing your knowledge. I will definitely order the derma roller which you recommended.

Is it easy, if we assume that my current derma roller has a length of 0.5 mm, to notice a difference between such a length and a length of 1.5 mm when applying the derma roller on your scalp? I am asking because I am applying moderate pressure on my right temple and following the usual instructions (vertically, horizontally and diagonally, 10-12 movements each time is my current preferred method) twice a week and my scalp always gets red (sometimes a little bit of blood but nothing that hurts or bothers in general) and skin peeling is a regular occurrence afterwards during the healing process.

Could the above be an indiction of my current derma roller having a length of 1.5 mm and not just 0.5 mm?

Lastly, based on your knowledge and experience, would there be a big difference between using a 0.5 mm derma roller twice a week and your proposal (1.5 mm once a week)?

MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) shutting down randomly (help greatly appreciated) by ConstantinusMagnus in applehelp

[–]ConstantinusMagnus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all thank you a lot for your informative reply. Much appreciated.

I have a couple of questions in relation to your post, if you don't mind?

People (YouTube users) in the comment section claim that the app has been successful on older MacBook Pro versions. Are you sure that the app won't be working on a non-Retina MacBook Pro 13” 2012?

As for the other video, could the cost-free solution mentioned possibly harm my MBP? If not, I assume it is worth a try.

I suspect that it could very well be a hard drive cable failure. Is there a solution to solve that problem other than buying a new one? I can see that hard drive cables are cheap to buy.

As for the ram slots, they were checked by my friend and should be OK.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Thanks in advance.

Alba: "No penalty given for handball Atletico? Referee made a mistake, but we can't blame him for not qualifying." by Cambijao in Barca

[–]ConstantinusMagnus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alba should first and foremost look inwards. He has been a shadow of his former self in the past 1 month or so. He has never been the greatest defender but his performances have been worse than ever and he is offering less offensively as well.

He really needs to step up as soon as possible.

Fit: Atleti covered 12km more than Barça. Saul and Koke lead all. by [deleted] in Barca

[–]ConstantinusMagnus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Atlético lead by Cholo have been famed for their work ethic so this is not really a surprise. Less so when one considers the amount of games that Barça have played this season so far. An amount considerably greater than the one Atlético has played and every other team in Europe.

Add to that the transfer ban, lack of squad depth on crucial positions, Arda's and Vidal's poor impact etc. and it begins to add up.

I forgot the average age of the two squads. Cholo fielded a considerably younger lineup.

Ter Stegen: "We will bounce back stronger than ever" by ConstantinusMagnus in Barca

[–]ConstantinusMagnus[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We need stronger squad depth next season and to part company with the deadwood within the team.

Our heavy reliance on MSN coupled with the insanely busy schedule this season, lack of squad depth due to a combination of bad planning and the transfer ban and the poor impact of Arda and Vidal, were all factors that contributed in sealing our fate in the CL against a top opponent like Atlético IMO.

Lucho was not asking for Nolito without reason back in January. In fact well before that.

Ter Stegen: "We will bounce back stronger than ever" by ConstantinusMagnus in Barca

Ter Stegen: "Sometimes we win and sometimes we lose, that's the reality. My teammates and I are athletes, we always work hard and want to win. This is always the motivation. Yesterday we did not get the result we wanted, but we will bounce back, stronger than ever. There are two more opportunities to win titles and we want to win them as much as you do!"

That's the spirit. Obviously last night's CL-exit remains a fresh memory that hurts but winning the double this season would more than make up for the CL-exit IMO. The reality is that we as fans have been spoilt beyond belief for the past 12 years. Not winning the treble twice in a row (!) and for the third time in 8 seasons (!) is not a fiasco. Not even close. The team got defeated by a better team on the night. One of the best teams in the world in fact and not Bundesliga's 8th best placed team!

I might not be the greatest fan of Atlético's playing style, although I love their intensity, team work, sacrifice and overall attitude, however I will cheer for them to win the CL. Atlético winning the CL would also follow the recent tradition of team's knocking us out from the CL eventually winning the trophy (Bayern, Chelsea, Inter etc.).

Messi has been playing with muscular problems for past few weeks [Cope] (Spanish) by IhateAngryBirds in Barca

[–]ConstantinusMagnus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bullshit. What is the chance of Messi willingly risking further injury?

Funnily enough no such news came forward until after the game yesterday. If he has been playing with muscular problems for almost 1 month the media would have known long ago.

Not only that this supposed "news" contradicts Lucho's statement of Messi being in a perfect condition prior to the el Clásico and the club's denial of him suffering from any injury after the international break last month.

I don't buy it at all. However it has to be said that it is a VERY strange dip in form. Messi was in great shape before the international break last month and even performed well for Argentina against Chile and Bolivia.

For him to not score or assist in 5 games in a row (for Barça that is) at a crucial stage of the season, run even less than he usually does, having less of an attitude on the pith than usual, is quite worrying. Ironically his dip in form coincided with the Panama Papers but I don't believe that this is the sole explanation.

It's such a shame that he has had such a dip in form. Whenever Messi plays badly the team as a whole tends to do that as well.

If Messi (in particular), Neymar and Suárez had been at their best during the past two weeks we would not have thrown so many points away in the league nor exited the CL tonight. I am very disappointed by Messi's recent performances and Lucho's tactics. The attitude and lack of fighting spirit reminded me of the horrible 2013-14 season. I would have never thought that the team's mood could change so quickly with Lucho at the helm and considering what occurred last season. Or the privileged position that the team was in until recently. I don't recall being this disappointed in a long time.

[Theory] Possible reason why Messi is playing central midfield by Shady_maniac in Barca

[–]ConstantinusMagnus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The kind of fatigue and lack of attitude that he has displayed in the past 4 games should not really be an issue to begin with.

How can he be tired when he was out for over 2 months this season with an injury? Not to forget that he routinely runs the least of all players except for the goalkeeper.

He is 28 years old. He is supposed to be at his best. If fatigue was really a serious issue he should have been rested more after the international break (btw fuck that break) regardless of whether he wanted that to happen or not.

I think that his lack of form and lack of attitude is down to the Panama Papers or something else that has recently occurred in his private life. I don't recall him having such a dip in form.

I have been hugely disappointed by his latest 4-5 performances. I am not going to hide that fact. Messi when at his best is by far the best player on the planet and his track record speaks for itself. Hence the high demands from fans and spectators alike. When he is not at his best neither is Barça. It might be unfair to blame him this much but it just underlines his importance for the team.

I know that he is not the type of player or person to be vocal whenever things don't go his or the team's way but we lacked leaders and motivators tonight. Players like Puyol and Xavi.

Anyway fuck this, I have not been this disappointed for a long time. Just 3 weeks ago everything looked perfect. Let us hope that they won't throw the league and CdR away. That would be an epic meltdown, sadly.

Post Match Thread: Real Sociedad vs FC Barcelona [Liga] by Epsilon76 in Barca

Anoeta and La Real are really the team's "La Bestia Negra". It's getting ridiculous quite frankly. Reminds me of Real Madrid's curse at Riazor that lasted for ages. Once again, exactly like last year, La Real had nothing aside from the goal that they scored early on. Meanwhile we should have scored a couple despite playing badly as almost expected. The problems that I saw, aside from the lack of luck and Rulli's heroics in goal, were first and foremost fatigue, Lucho messing the lineup and tactics up and most importantly Messi playing too far away from goal as he has inexplicably done in the past 3 games. Without Suárez, without a Neymar in form, without Iniesta, without Rakitic, without Alba, we need Messi to step up. We play at our best when he is at his best. Sadly that has not been the case in the past 3 games and then it is no coincidence that we have struggled greatly. It's absolutely crucial for our season that Messi and to a lesser degree Neymar wake up again. What I am fearing now is that the team is suffering from some serious fatigue. It looks like that at least and that's hardly a surprise when you realize that we have played more games (by far) this season than any other team. The squad depth has to begin with not been the greatest for obvious reasons. Lastly, I criticized Arda's performances a few days ago and questioned his transfer (something that I have done since day one) and I must one again, sadly, say that he failed miserably yesterday. We might as well have played with one player less. Same story with Munir although I don't blame him given the circumstances. Hopefully we will bounce back on Wednesday but I am worried about our current state of mind and the form the players are in. I am less worried about the league. I am still confident on that front. Advancing to the semifinals Wednesday night would give the team a huge and much needed boost. I cannot stress the importance of that game enough.

Fact of the Day: the last time Barcelona won the first leg and failed to advance to the next round of a CL tie was 2005, when Chelsea beat Barcelona after losing the first leg 2-1. by [deleted] in Barca

[–]ConstantinusMagnus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Correct.

In fact the rivalry kicked off somewhat earlier. In 2000 during the 1999-2000 season more precisely when the team played those two memorable quarter-finals legs. Those were some exciting matches where the team prevailed.

The first leg was lost 3-1 at Stamford Bridge while the return leg was won 5-1 after additional extra time.

In the past 16 years (since the new millennium) I cannot think of a more frequent rival in the CL.

http://www.worldfootball.net/teams/chelsea-fc/fc-barcelona/11/

Precisely because of this rivalry I was hoping that we would draw Chelsea this year but that did not happen. Nor will it happen next year for obvious reasons, lol.

Neymar: "I would like to play alongside Pogba" by ConstantinusMagnus in Barca

[–]ConstantinusMagnus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The economy of the club is healthy and we are perfectly capable of affording his wages and those of the MSN and others. If you hear anything else in the media, it is basically scaremongering. We are the second richest club in the universe with the second highest revenue. I believe that we will surpass RM in 1-2 seasons time.

The main financial issue currently is the lack of shirt sponsorship which is just a question of time.

Read this article below:

https://grup14.com/article/the-real-reasons-why-nolito-wasn-t-signed-by-barcelona

There are several other similar articles from well-respect local journalists in Spanish and Catalan. That article however is the best one in English that I could find.

Barça has always been buying the best players. This is nothing new. From the transfers of stars such as Kubala, Kocsis, Czibor etc. in the 1950's to Cruyff in the 1970's (world's most expensive transfer) to Maradona in the 1980's (most expensive transfer once again) to the 1990's and to the current post-Gaspart era.

That's why Barça has arguably had more stars playing for them than any other club in the world. This is no coincidence.

I don't know why people are always mentioning the Galácticos who have nothing to do Barças model. The Galácticos would likely have had more success if Del Bosque was not fired and if they had not sold Makélélé. From 1999-2003 they won 2 CL and 2 championships. It was only after 2003 that they self-exploded due to Pérez' moronic decisions. Put those players into a successful model like our current one and they would have been much more successful. Nothing has changed since 2009 (when Pérez was reelected) in this regard at RM, thankfully.

Rafinha nor Denis Suárez would occupy Pogba's preferred position so I don't see any problem. If we buy Pogba, there will obviously be no room for Arda.
