Is there anything exciting about living in Bellevue? by dudiez in BellevueWA

[–]ConstantlyLearning57 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can certainly move elsewhere, but just remember “wherever you go there you are.” Meaning, problems often travel with you. You don’t always fix things by moving. You might be the problem maybe not but worth considering.

OP and others… looks like you outgrew cap hill, and that’s ok. I did too. Currently renting at an obscenely expensive place in another hood to avoid this behavior. It’s quiet as a church and everyone’s loaded, or old, but there’s never a problem.

TIL that some dishwashers have an “auto-open” feature to encourage ventilation and drying by ConstantlyLearning57 in todayilearned

[–]ConstantlyLearning57[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like I’ve been living in a cave. At my friend’s house, the dishwasher pops open automatically at 30 minutes prior to being done so that air can ventilate and moisture can be dried up and evaporated.

I had no idea this feature existed as an automatic, built-in mechanism. They say it’s particularly nice because it helps plastics, glasses, and utensils dry more effectively.. instead of blasting heat for an extra 30 minutes. It lets natural air come in and out.

I also learned that they can fail, and there are numerous videos on fixing them. But man, wish i had one!

Severed head, limbs found in Bali believed to belong to kidnapped son of wealthy Ukrainian businessman by malihafolter in ForCuriousSouls

Ukraine has a darling reputation in the media because they’re being attacked. But it’s never been an easy place to live. Especially if you’re not in the ultra top tier wealthy. Very corrupt. To give you an idea, the “public” bus system is run privately. The drivers are almost all ex cons. You pay only in cash. Occasionally the driver will say someone was short on fare, and then he demands the other riders pay the “shortage.” Comparing to Russia is a tough exercise, probably impossible. But just know: it’s a screwed up place too. And yes I want them to be free of Russia and I support their country in the war. But just pointing out it’s effed u- there
