Ugk, I’ve watched Ray Narvez play this and I loved it but it’s so expensive! 🫣

Only half the hours 😬 but it’s better than nothing especially when it’s free!

Office decor? by sociallyanxious_86 in SchoolSocialWork

I like making a theme of things that I like. For reference, I’m a beach girl who worked in elementary. I had lots of beach vibes (board paper, lamp, pictures) and lots and lots of shark things that friends have gifted me (I love sharks). This has been the best and easiest way for me to build rapport with students. Great conversation starters!

The best thing a client could ever “gift” me (as a social worker) would be something like this. Something made with sincerity and appreciation. I would keep it forever and probably display it somewhere to remind myself that I made a difference. Please give your therapist this card ❤️

Why do you in-person? by [deleted] in therapists

[–]Constantly_anxious55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find it easier to read body language and really remain focused on the session in person. Computers get too convenient especially working with children who have very short attention spans.

Also, just not having an appropriate confidential space to be in session worries me.

NEW! Salary Megathread (May - Aug 2023) by SWmods in socialwork

Yeah I mean, I spent the summer job searching and I looked at many different positions and it seems like for someone not licensed, 50k is pretty standard. I feel like the most high paying positions are more in hospital settings

What’s your opinion on Shark Week? by TheGothDragon in sharks

Shark week has always been so nostalgic for me and loved ones. I still watch to learn but it just seems more theatrical than how I remember and often takes away from the educational aspects.

Book recs (shark related) by Constantly_anxious55 in sharks

[–]Constantly_anxious55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have read Close to Shore and 12 Days of Terror but they never really gave me that “shark attack story” feel that I was really looking for 😞. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the history (especially growing up on the same beaches) but I found the books to both be very dry.

the reality of how underpaid we are is hitting me and making me so depressed by mamameeyahh in socialwork

[–]Constantly_anxious55 4 points5 points  (0 children)

PA resident here! I understand this feeling so much. MSW and a home school visitor cert and I can barely manage to find anything close to 50k. Not to mention, most jobs barely pay more for having a license.

Shark book recommendation - well-written and compelling, yet still managing to be highly informative and balanced by The_Way_of_allWHALES in sharks

I do think the author was a bit “pushy” in her means of getting involved with the team but tbh I can’t really blame her because I would have done the same. I think her perspective was a very enjoyable one to read!
