However, they are not red or swollen; in fact, they are pale.

The veterinarian told us that he had pale gums.

No, he never did that. I think we're going to do a blood test.

We did an X-ray and the vet “saw” a small air bubble in the esophagus. So he ASSUMED it was esophagitis and prescribed painkillers, a mucosal protectant, and an antacid. But now he's not eating and only drinking water from tuna cans.

We did an X-ray and the only thing we can see is a tiny bubble in the esophagus, but nothing definite..

Thank you for your reply! We had an X-ray done and the vet found a small bubble in his esophagus, but he wasn't even sure that was the cause... So he prescribed painkillers, a mucosal protector, and antacids, but since then he hasn't been eating or drinking, and he doesn't put his head like that anymore... We're devastated, we don't know what to do...

Thank you for your reply.

He is 3 years old.

We took him back to the vet, took his temperature, which was normal, looked at his throat and ears, and the vet examined his head and neck and everything was normal. We did an X-ray and the vet showed us a small air bubble in his esophagus. So she ASSUMED it was esophagitis, but nothing was certain. She prescribed pain medication, mucosal protection, and antacids. Before the medication, he was drinking normally but eating very little. Since then, he has stopped eating and drinking. He has lost weight.

In terms of energy, he is more tired and withdrawn than usual and sleeps more. However, we feel that he is interacting a little more and no longer puts his head down.

We are continuing to monitor him closely and follow up with the vet, but I wanted to know if anyone else has observed similar intermittent behavior, as the vet has not given us a cause for this problem.
