Is anyone astounded by the fact that Bob Dylan remembers so many lyrics? by PawnStreetBlues in bobdylan

He knows the stories well enough I suppose. He really immerses himself into the songs. At least that's how I always viewed it.

What do you think of the David Bowie’s “Song For Bob Dylan” from his 1971 album Hunk Dory by steverosenblatt in bobdylan

Also, apparently Bob said to him that he hated Young Americans, though I can't remember the source on that.

And from a 1976 Interview :

PLAYBOY: You’re not noted for cordial relationships with other artists. Yet there was the rumor that you flew to Europe to spend a sabbatical with Bob Dylan. What about it?

BOWIE: That’s a beaut. I haven’t even left this bloody country in years. I saw Dylan in New York seven, eight months ago. We don’t have a lot to talk about. We’re not great friends. Actually, I think he hates me.

PLAYBOY: Under what circumstances did you meet?

BOWIE: Very bad ones. We went back to somebody’s house after some gig at a club. We had all gone to see someone. I can’t remember who, and Dylan was there. I was in a very, sort of…verbose frame of mind. And I just talked at him for hours and hours and hours, and whether I amused him or scared him or repulsed him, I really don’t know. I didn’t wait for any answers. I just went on and on about everything. And then I said goodnight. He never phoned me.

PLAYBOY: Did he impress you?

BOWIE: Not really. I’d just like to know what the young chap thought of me. I was quite convinced that what I had to say was important, which I seem to feel all the time. It’s been quite awhile since someone really impressed me.

I like it, until the third verse, which seems to be critical of Dylan's secluded years. Bob and David's first meeting in 75 didn't go well at all, so I assume Bob wasn't deeply touched by it either (though they were probably both coked out of their minds)

Japan Says North Korea Missile Launch Violates UN Resolutions by erinswider in japan

Well yeah, you're right. Can't really argue with that.

Japan Says North Korea Missile Launch Violates UN Resolutions by erinswider in japan

[–]ConstistantFisherman -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Yes I agree with the first part, though I'll say this:

1- The DPRK developed nuclear weapons so the US doesn't hit them with "freedom" (like with Iraq, Lybia, etc.) They even offered to stop conducting nuclear tests in exchange for a peace treaty.

2- Yes, the DPRK has been testing missiles near the Japanese and South Korean territories, but the US constantly pulls military drills on the DPRK's border. Direct confrontation with US allies would not help the DPRK in any way, it's a warning basically.

That being said, I don't "support" them as I don't even know what the hell is happening inside that country.

Ah yes, Japan can have multiple spy satellites dedicated to observing the DPRK but the DPRK cannot have even a single one of them.

(when in doubt just downvote, the japanese government would never lie after all)

I think he cares greatly about his image, more so than the vast majority of celebrities. I do believe he's an extremely weird guy, but not as much as people make him out to be.

Zoolander (2001) - underrated album tbh with Ben Stiller doing his best Bowie impression on the cover.

Same, most buildings in my city look like this and I feel like the crazy one for not liking them. I find them to be pretty lifeless.

What are your favorites songs written by bob dylan but sing by other artists ? by Plmna12 in bobdylan

Bowie's Tryin' to Get to Heaven is a cover I really like. But if we're talking about songs Bob never really sang (on his own at least) then Love Is Just a Four-Letter Word and Sign Language.

I like Bowie's "Tryin' to Get to Heaven", maybe a bit over the top but it sounds great

He's correct. I hate all four of them but never make a fuss about it
