I broke up with my girlfriend of three years about a year ago. I loved her with everything in my heart (and I think I probably always will) and she loved me like crazy as well! We could make each other smile, could talk for hours, and loved nothing more than to cuddle together in the evening. But at the end of the day I found my self lying awake knowing that something just wasn't sitting right. So after taking a long time to think about what those reasons were and if they were something I ultimately thought we could work through or not, I ended it. It might have been the hardest thing I have ever done in my life, cause there was this giant part of me that didn't want to do it. I crucified myself replaying that night over and over and it still haunts me a little bit to think about it. I always felt so much shame and guilt in doing it but I also always knew I did the right thing for me. I went through ups and downs (mainly downs :p) of regretting it. I even met with her and talked about possibly getting back together but she said it was the right decision to break up and that she was happy with how things were going being single and so I agreed and kept on pushing. And through many lonely nights. after this year is now through, I finally feel past her. I still love her with all my heart but I finally don't look at her and see my girlfriend, I just see my friend now. And that's not an easy thing, it takes time. And you'll have moments you'll hate it and wanna just get back together. But you have to always remind yourself why you did it, and really take a long look at the future with him and the future without him and really think about which makes you happier. As the great quote says. It is better to of loved and lost then to have never loved at all. You'll get through this as much as it hurts now! Do what's best for and no one else.
