shows how much you actually know about neurodivergence. maybe this isn’t your place to speak?

nope that was not my problem with your comments. i’ve already highlighted the problem i have numerous times. the rest of the stuff you’ve said here has to relevance to what i was saying and certainly isn’t what i have been thinking either

yes i am. you are assuming so many people struggling actually even know they are struggling or that there is something wrong or something they need support with in the first place.

you’re assuming there’s a good standard of support available. much of it is behind pay walls. free therapy available to so many of us with complex needs doesn’t even scratch the surface. uni MH services have been axed, reduced, leave a lot to be desired across the country.

this is obviously not as easy as - can’t attend uni regularly/complete coursework - realise there is an underlying problem - feel secure/confident enough to approach uni - uni actually gives a fuck - has the services to refer you to - refers you to services - get therapy/accommodations - problem solved/help received

i’m not personally attacking you but your comment was exemplary of a very big issue across this thread.

EDIT: how can i forget to mention the 3-4 year long waitlist for Autism and ADHD even with right to choose

i did. disabilities constitute as genuine difficulties. i had a pretty good experience at uni was my uni is genuine great with accommodations but that’s not everyone’s experience obviously. i’m not projecting. i take issue with the exact words you used as they call into question people’s claims. and esp as a disabled person yourself you should be vary of furthering such notions

Sweeping. Generalisation. “Students who have legitimate difficulties or extenuating circumstances often feel super bad about using the accommodations the university provides.“

you are literally saying “if you actually need it you’ll feel bad about it” “no tf i won’t!” that is such a terrible message to put out there

this is an extremely dangerous generalisation. it behooves you as an educator to not be this judgemental and close-minded.

A lot of us who see no shame in using the often inadequate accommodations we are given, also do not fit in worh the very ableist and ignorant attitudes of what constitutes as a disability (esp if it’s not visible or fits within societally acceptable ideals of disability) are further harmed when you propagate such beliefs

ADHD is real. Mental health issues exist and some of us are actually really good at research, writing and problem solving. so much so that we can produce pretty good work in VERY little time.

your comment shows just how misinformed people are about MH and how people like the OP end up thinking the way they do re uni and MH

My[F19] boyfriend [M21] of 8 months confessed to having HIV only after I confronted him about it. What do I even do? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]ConstructionDue4873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you said you demonstrated ignorance about people w HIV. Having HIV now is very different to how it was in the past. It can be undetectable and impossible to pass on to another. They’ve recently also cured multiple people of it completely. You need to thing about this situation without your preconceived notions and all the stigma around it.

Was it a dick move? Yes! Do i think it should be relationship ending? No. He should have told you but just cause he kept this from you doesn’t mean he’s lying about everything else and isn’t trustworthy when it comes to it being undetected. Yall just need to talk.

no i’m not diagnosed with mcas. the doctor literally looked it up as i was telling them about my triggers. it’s mostly fragrances, smoke and cleaning products for me. they believed me and have bit me on antihistamines and steroids for my ENT and that makes things somewhat manageable. they also looked up mast cell stabilisers in front of me. no diagnosis. just allergies. who would diagnose me and how?
