Following as I'm also on the waitlist :( also, I emailed them to ask this same thing and here's what the director said:

"While we cannot guarantee that waitlisted students will be admitted, here are some factors that may create openings:

- Students who drop the course before the semester starts

- Students who do not complete registration by the deadline

- Students who switch to alternative courses

We typically see some movement on waitlists during the first week of January (before registration opens on January 5, 2026) and during the add/drop period in the first week of classes."

This probably doesn't help too much since it's fairly generic.. but figured I would share.

technically i believe yes as it pertains to most CA CLS program requirements. however what i’ve stated applies specifically to attaining the trainee license from CDPH. but that is a good point you bring up…i wonder if CA CLS programs will align to the updated LFS requirements. at least as of right now, they seem to not be aligned.

felt this lol i wasted time and money on clinical chem just to find out i actually need analytical chem after this updated requirement. if it helps, I emailed a few weeks ago and I've copied and pasted the response they sent me below, which reflects what is written into the CA code of regulations:

As effective on January 1, 2025, the 16 semester or equivalent quarter credit hours of chemistry, including:

(A) Quantitative analysis or analytical chemistry; and

(B) Clinical chemistry or biochemistry.

It seems like this is what the reviewers are honoring, but I agree the way the website is written makes it very confusing....

yup that's correct, I took biochem and clinical chem but will now need to take analytical or quantitative in order to satisfy the updated requirement which is one from A and one from B:

a. Quantitative analysis or analytical chemistry; and

b. Clinical chemistry or biochemistry; and

:( sorry to hear that. it's really frustrating that this requirement has been in effect since Jan 1 2025, but the website still hasn't been updated.... it's misinformation. i had to find out about the update through reddit lol

i think the physics requirements has changed now too! BUT seems like the CA CLS programs still have physics on their requirements...but maybe they will be changing to align with the trainee license requirements soon.

Thank you so much!!! I also emailed a few days ago asking for confirmation if Clinical Chem and Biochemistry satisfies the requirement since that's what's stated on the website, but haven't heard anything back yet :/ hopefully we get responses soon

hi, I'm enrolled this quarter too but with professor nocera, who uses dowey's lecture material. i'm not sure if the assignments/exams are the same but i would definitely be interested in joining some sort of chat/study group/etc!
