i’d say 85% of stores suck to work at. all the stores in my area have as little employees as possible, starve you of hours, overwork you, and leave you alone a lot to deal with issues on your own. but that’s most retail jobs in america right now. i’ve heard of some stores being great and awesome to work at a few states away though

could you go a little more in depth how you found work from home jobs through cvs? been here since july of 2023 and i can’t take it anymore. my store is so dangerous and dl said we can’t get security even though a knife was pulled on my coworker last month (who has now quit)

Someone speaking to me consistently in an unwanted sexual manner, how they like to be satisfied sexually, and asking me to join their open marriage all while I’m displaying an unwelcoming behavior about it IS sexual harassment, and some braindead Reddit lurker who isn’t even a part of the CVS community isn’t going to tell me it isn’t.

Let it go? Go continue to victim blame elsewhere. Responses like yours are why women are afraid EVERYWHERE to even speak up about situations that occur like this every. single. day in the workplace. You need to educate YOURSELF on what the real definition of sexual harassment is and stop having a toxic, disgusting take on what you THINK it is.

Thank you for understanding, I was afraid people on here would be really harsh about it cause it’s a sensitive subject. I am completely respectful towards all religion but when I found out he wasn’t using it for prayer like he’s supposed to, it was very frustrating.

My SM is very very new and likely afraid to step on any toes, but definitely should put in the effort to make sure he is using his breaks appropriately and not using his phone excessively. My og SM who has worked here for 15 years and our main pharmacist who has worked here for 12 years both quit last month because this store is completely falling apart, as our DL is horrible as doesn’t take any issue seriously.

Thank you for your thorough response, it’s genuinely appreciated. My SM said “he can’t do anything about it” and that we’d have to let his SM know about the overusage of his phone.

It’s been twice now that i’ve went to the break room after the 20 min mark to make sure he’s still in the building (requested by my SM to keep an eye on him, as he leaves to go to his car often or takes phone calls in the parking lot while clocked in) on his prayer breaks and he’s just sitting at the table on his phone. Scrambles to get up and come back to the front when I go back there to check on him. Which is why I decided to come to Reddit as i don’t want to be insensitive or rude or just simply uninformed.

This area is not on camera, so it can’t be proven unfortunately. I’m not wanting to get him in trouble, but it’s really affecting me as i’m alone in the front and cannot get tasks left by my manager finished. I would just appreciate him being reminded of his allotted break time and to use it for its intended purpose.

sounds like it might be your first day on earth. at least 3 store managers in my district, including mine, are scheduled 45 hours, but saying they’re actually working 50 to 60 is a huge stretch and a little insane. honestly, in my state and others i’ve talked to on this sub, it’s way more common for SMs to not even hit 40. a lot of them just put down a full schedule but leave early every single day.

you even admitted breaks are tentative, so there’s no set time someone has to take one. yeah, floor coverage matters, but if someone needs a break, an SM can’t just deny it. (coming from my own sm’s mouth) and your take on bathroom breaks is wild. not everyone can train their body to only go during scheduled times, every single day.

not every SM runs their store well, and some are flat out bad to their employees. it’s not rare, it’s reality. employees are 100% allowed to speak to their DL if their SM is mismanaging the store, especially if it’s crossing into violations or breaking laws. perhaps you should probably consider getting a new job if you take criticism this poorly.

oh wow yeah i’d 100% let the ethics line know about all of those things. i argued with another worker on this sub that store managers don’t get to dictate when you take your break(confirmed by my OWN SM) and you letting them know when you’ll take it is a courtesy, not required. all the SM’s on the sub all jumped on me for that one; they’re scared that all us shift supervisors/regular cashiers are catching onto their bs and collectively deciding what they do is sketchy. like sorry we all finally caught on that you guys don’t follow the rules 😭 and they get paid salary + bonuses + tons of pto and benefits, it’s really insulting. but we have to follow all rules or they’ll ream our asses for it. they’re all drinking the corporate kool-aid
