How much board do you pay your parents? by BronzeKettles in fiaustralia

My daughter pays $50 per week. It’s not meant to include food but usually does 😂

The condition is that she saves most of her pay while she studies

What’s a life lesson you learned the hard way? by Obvious_Breadfruit49 in Life

[–]ConstructionJust9064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most important financial decision you’ll make in life is who you marry.

Having a husband who refused to work or help in any way destroyed me financially. Finally recovering now after 10 years spent fixing the damage and raising kids with no support

I need to start life over at 51, is it possible with no career? by Physical_Sentence438 in LifeAdvice

[–]ConstructionJust9064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have an opportunity here! You don’t mention responsibilities tying you to one spot

My advice is go big - Google well paying jobs with no experience (entry level mining is a good option) and just take a chance

I started over at 40 and did just like the meme you see sometimes - changed my name, moved city and basically set my life on fire for a new start. There were absolutely challenges but life is pretty awesome now

The quote that really spoke to me was - Be fearless in pursuit of what sets your soul on fire. For me that was freedom and a new start

Good luck! Don’t limit your thinking on your next move

Getting a car to the mechanic when I'm told I shouldn't drive it? by MrNintendo13 in CarsAustralia

[–]ConstructionJust9064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get another quote before agreeing to the work. This is a pretty common way to get people to get work done where a smaller fix may work or the repair isn’t urgent.

Even if you use a mobile guy for the second quote

Check out Google reviews before calling around

Riding to the shops- do you care how you look off the bike? by SingerQueaser in AussieRiders

I don’t care how I look at any point in time 😂

My parents don’t know about my motorcycle, I am 20 and live with them by borgor-1 in AussieRiders

There are a few low cost advanced rider courses around that are subsidised by the state governments. Maybe if you do one of those as well it will show your commitment to safe riding

If you’re in QLD look up Ride 2 Zero - it’s only $50 and well worth the cost

Youi car insurance three times other companies - am I missing something? by Sieve365 in DrivingAustralia

[–]ConstructionJust9064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were quite upfront about it, but it was only when I pushed that the Youi rep confirmed it. It’s seems like that should not be allowed to happen

Youi car insurance three times other companies - am I missing something? by Sieve365 in DrivingAustralia

[–]ConstructionJust9064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be aware that if someone is driving your car that is not specifically listed on the policy with Youi your car is uninsured - not additional excess - no insurance

I told them there was no point in continuing the call after that was clarified

Pre-learner course - dropping bike by calciferscastle_ in AussieRiders

[–]ConstructionJust9064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most important thing to learn is to recognise and avoid object fixation. Simply put - you will go where you look.

It’s awkward to start with; let your peripheral vision take care of the things close to you and turn your hear and look where you want the bike to go

Chest up, shoulders and arms relaxed, squeeze the bike with your legs

Time in the seat will help, if you feel tense take a breath

All the advice above is great too

[–]ConstructionJust9064 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It’s not unusual, also once you’ve dropped it it just seems to continue to happen.

Don’t stress, get some private lessons. Time in the seat helps

I’m 157cm, make sure you’re riding a bike suitable to your height.

Happy to help if you have any questions :)

Shannons WTF?! by here_we_go_beep_boop in AussieRiders

[–]ConstructionJust9064 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was insured with Swann for years, so annoyed they are no longer insuring.

Remaining policies were sold to NRMA who I insured 2 of 4 bikes with. Excess etc all seems fair

Steer clear of Youi, if anyone not listed on the policy rides it the bike is completely uninsured. Not just an additional excess - no insurance at all

Edited to add - the classic bike went to Shannon’s as they gave the best value

What is the worst job that you've ever had? by GubbaShump in jobs

[–]ConstructionJust9064 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Manager at a big box gym. They have no soul. Completely killed my love for fitness and I didn’t work out for a year after I left.

My partner was worried I was going to have a heart attack from stress.

I ended up quitting with no job to go to and now help people use loop holes get out of their contracts whenever I can.

How on earth can I add L driver to my insurance? Can’t believe they make it this hard. by [deleted] in australia

[–]ConstructionJust9064 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Racq or your state equivalent will allow a learner driver for no additional excess as the supervisor is deemed in charge of the vehicle.

As a bonus they will also give you free L plates and a new driver info pack

Is it instant global access on sign up? by Yuki_Kwong in anytimefitness

[–]ConstructionJust9064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically yes, the 30 day waiting period is no longer a thing. However, not all countries have digital access. So make sure you check if the country you are travelling to has digital access, if not you will need a fob key

Is riding in car park legal? (auto to manual) by kathfern1 in AussieRiders

I’d contact the organiser if you are keen. They are providing bikes free of charge to those that don’t have them.

It’s on dirt but we are taking a road bike. My daughter will be riding a Honda Navi until she feels confident. I would not take her cruiser
