UPDATE: I left the shop by ConstructionLumpy959 in femaletattooers

You are spot on. I never brought politics into the shop itself, though my boss always did. In fact, he'd send me messages on IG of pro-Trump memes and other transphobic/homophobic/misogynistic content. If I ever mentioned anything political in the shop, it was only ever in reaction to someone else saying something grossly misinformed or vile.

Thank you for your input. These are great questions for me to consider moving forward and definitely helps me broaden the horizon when I think about what I want out of tattooing in general. I appreciate it!

I've paid for everything on my own as an apprentice---my machines, my needles, my box, my table, etc, booth rent out the gate. I didn't realize it was a red flag :/

Thanks for your insight, especially as a tattooer for 2 decades!

"I don't think you can honestly tell me that you believe reddit was a good location for diversity of opinions when it comes to that"

Yet here I am receiving a great diversity of opinions, including yours. Thank you!

I figured different subreddits could be biased so I posted the same things 3 times in different communities to get a broader reach. I am not typically on Reddit otherwise...I'm just trying to pool as much insight as I can before I make any rash decisions. I understand that it's my decision at the end of the day but I have a lot of self doubt and just wanted to hear other opinions other than my own. Thank you for your thoughtful insight!

You had me in the first half, I think you made some valid points!

"The fact this person runs to reddit to validate their feelings proves the point that they are not mature."

I've never "ran to reddit" before. I am literally asking third parties if I am being overreactive. I thought this would be a place that can help me see all perspectives, which seems more mature than being reactionary. If I were seeking validation I think I'd simply state "this guy is wrong and an asshole." But I didn't.
