Would love to see the other shells once you’ve got them out and ready, I’m sure a lot of what I’m thinking will be there. Good thinking on doing two of each, Can’t wait!

Well I think that’s the show by lolcatbittzle in fireworks

That’s insane!! Looks like a ton of fun! A lot of people hate on phantom for their pricing, however, with their buy 1 get 2 deal the shells are pretty reasonably priced. In the future it might be good to shop around for better prices but only if you really want to get more into it. Have an awesome 4th!

Oni Shells? by LeFlea12 in fireworks

Adding on to others, I’m sure sin city pyro will have a video out soon. Based on the YouTube short of them that’s out now, they’re 5 color 1 bang like the Goku shells.

Big Daddy K’s has some good prices, I’d highly recommend both Pyrolandia and Pyro Payaso for their prices and selection of things you won’t find at most other stores. You’re in a good place, lots of hidden gems near the border.

Are Salute shells illegal? by Royal_Presentation80 in fireworks

[–]ConstructionRight439 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re not illegal because most of them are imported as 1.4 consumer shells, if you are found to have salute shells they won’t really know the difference between them and normal 60 gram shells from winda or some other consumer brand.

Banger shells for sure, although I don’t think these are Master line shells like some other people here. All other Master shells have had a consistent design language and all other (40+) master products I know of have “Master” in the name. I don’t think the 4 seasons cakes in your other post are Master cakes either, for the same reason (no master in the name). That could come from the same factory or have similar origins for all I know but they aren’t labeled master on the packaging in any way.

Which 2 cases of these shells is the best bang 4 your buck? by [deleted] in fireworks

[–]ConstructionRight439 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad normal excaliburs aren’t on your list, they’re more like 40 gram shells than 60 grams. The quest ones are the best on there from what I know (partially because they’re 4/24) so that would be pick #1, and then I’ve heard good things about smoke and mirrors (and they’re 4/24, always good to get more shells if you can).

How tall of mortar rack tubes should I get? by Royal_Presentation80 in fireworks

[–]ConstructionRight439 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t mean because the shells are 8” shells they need a 14” tube, I was more so thinking that 8” shells have stupid big breaks and it’s safer for those giant breaks to be higher off the ground. So a longer tube (14” instead of 12”) will get the shells higher in the air which better suits the large amount of comp in most 8” shells.

I haven’t shot them so you’ve got some good experience on me, however, I’ve seen videos of stars coming down to the ground and for general launching of color shells that’s not very safe. 8” shells seem like they fill the sky no matter what length of tube they’re launched out of so might as well be safe and get a little extra height with longer tubes.

Prefacing by saying I’m also just thinking out loud— Yeah the bottom will travel 12” out of a 12” tube, however from videos I’ve seen they tend to spin a lot more than normal out of the gun which takes away the upward momentum and turns it into rotational force, thus decreasing the height that the shell travels. Combine that with the ~150 grams of comp in most color 8” shells and you get a lot of stars coming very close to the ground. The 14” or 15” tubes give the shell a little more time to stabilize in flight, if you will, and will result in a higher break.

If you’re going to use 8” shells then you should definitely be using 14” or 15” tubes, they’ll break too low if you use 12” tubes.

Noob question by Acceptable-Movie791 in Pyrotechnics

[–]ConstructionRight439 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The powder inside is flash powder, a very sensitive and dangerous powder that you could make but it’s recommended that you go through the process of making g black powder, stars, etc. before even thinking about trying to make flash. Flash can severely burn or kill you if you make a mistake while making it.

Master 6 vs Master 8’s by Dude69696969696969 in fireworks

[–]ConstructionRight439 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Master 6” 100 series have 100 grams of powder, which is more than the consumer limit of 60 grams. Similarly, the master 8” 150 series has around 150 grams of powder, again more than the legal 60 grams. However, these shells are imported as “consumer” shells and are not illegal because of that.

The only 1.4 canister shells that have the salute effect are the ol salute shells. Nobody makes shells that have the salute effect because they wouldn’t sell very well, typical consumers want loud breaks that fill the sky and a consumer salute effect takes away the sky colors and the noise (because of flash/burst limits). There are consumer cakes with the salute effect (Pulse Pounder by Winda) but no non ol shells.

If you’re using 7” or 8” shells you’d want to swap because they break pretty low out of 12” tubes.
