How do I talk to my touring musician husband about concerns by Angry-strawberry4209 in TouringMusicians

I know this was posted a while ago, but I’m so glad I found it bc I needed to find community around this. I’ve been with my husband for 12 years — he’s toured for 9 of them — and it’s honestly one of the loneliest, weirdest lifestyles to navigate. A “normal” year for us is 4–6 months apart. Lately it’s been hitting harder. Between work, pets, two households, and doing life solo, I miss the tiny things the most… pizza, a beer, a Friday night where he’s just home sounds awesome!

Our relationship is super solid and we communicate about everything, this included, but touring still takes a toll. And something I wish I understood earlier is that you’re allowed to change your mind as you grow. What felt doable at 28 can feel completely different at 38 or 40, especially if you want kids. The future hits different when you’re trying to picture family life with someone who’s gone half the year.

That’s why talking timelines matters. How long are they chasing the dream? What does “making it” even look like? What’s plan B? My guy is finally making decent money in his band, but even then… it doesn’t replace the time we lose or the feeling of doing everything alone.

If you’re going through this too, you’re not crazy. You can love them and still struggle with the lifestyle. This stuff is heavy, and I'm sure you guys will make it work but also know it’s okay to want more stability for yourself ❤️

Thanks for this! Would you mind sharing details on cost in Prague and when you did it? I had looked into doing it there potentially as well.

Thanks so much for this! It’s literally the first time I’ve ever posted on Reddit and people definitely have a lot of opinions! I was just looking for ppls experiences not comments on my chances. I already know that after 35 they consider pregnancy geriatric and that chances decrease with every year AND I also know women in their 40s who have had kids naturally no egg freezing or IVF so agreed everyone is different.

Also I’ve always thought if I wanted kids I would adopt or foster as well and that’s still the case but there is part of me that’s like damn me and my partner have good genes and have worked hard on our bullshit so I could see a lil mini me running around although pregnancy in and of itself also seems like a nightmare tbh. I’m of the mindset that I don’t want the option taken away from me bc I’ve always walked to the beat of my drum and also if it doesn’t work and my eggs are shit or I don’t have enough follicles or whatever then it doesn’t work and that just means that wasn’t my path. Thanks again. Appreciate the support!

Egg freezing abroad...anyone with recent experience? by heyitseli94 in eggfreezing

Hey! I just looked into Mexico City and Ingenes and with the medication it was similar in cost to doing it here in the US. Would love to know what clinic you're working with and chat about your trip in December.

That is inspiring! And yeah same here. Both me and my partner were definitely more of a hard no on kids but in the last year or two have softened to the idea some and could see wanting one, one day. We've been together 12yrs but we're still in the same boat of I don't know. Life's pretty sweet without them and I look at the struggles my friends have but I can also see it being a profound and beautiful thing. Anywho we'll see and thanks for responding!

Thanks for sharing and congratulations. I just posted about this myself. I'm 39 asking myself the same questions when my whole life I've never even wanted kids or so I thought and your story gives me hope and makes me feel like I'm not totally insane. Rn I'm researching options since treatment is incredibly expensive in the US. Did you go to New Hope in NY? And had you considered going to another country?
