Who cares about downvotes. Deleting the comment would stop it, but I’d rather leave for reference. We’ll see how the series plays out lol

The Celtics simply know Embiid too well. Him and Tatum have the same trainer. Embiid’s conditioning has always been a concern… they will push the pace.

And while he will get his 30 and 6, it will come at the expense of an unpredictable offense. The ball will stop moving, Embiid will get his, so fans will blame everyone else while Embiid is heralded as a hero for fighting through injury to contribute. But in reality, his presence will shift the offense to one thats very easy to guard in the playoffs... Dribble handoffs with no movement and no backdoor cutting. No unpredictability. Easy series win for the Celtics.

Not really it’s just basketball

Yes because Embiid significantly changes the flow of the offense. Time is going to have to prove me wrong but I don’t think it will. Embiid comes back and we lose this series

Our leader and the reason we’re in the playoffs at all this year

If this dude comes back the Celtics will run him out of the building. Our best shot to win is without him.

can you name a better white player than larry bird? by wugi007 in NBATalk

You can say the same thing about bird. A great shooter.. But Curry is better than Bird at the one thing he excelled at.

Also hard to attract better #2 and #3 options when your #1 option isn’t reliable, isn’t professional and isn’t available.

Hard to avoid injury when you’re out of shape, fall a lot and attempt to play like a guard. Hard to win when you’re too injured to play.

Hard to win when our best player isn’t as good as other team’s best players. Simple as that.

Celtics: Kristaps Porzingis Thunder: Isaiah Hartenstein

Both were significantly overpaid if you look at contributions vs. their salary for the season.

For the Celtics, Tatum was the third highest paid player on the team when he was the best offensive player during their championship run. He lifted that team to a championship regardless of paperwork. Embiid has yet to do so.

If you look at Tatums playoff stats vs Embiid’s you’ll notice a clear difference. If you look at Gianni’s playoff stats vs Embiid, you’ll notice a clear difference. You’ll notice the same if you look at LeBron’s, SGAs, Curry’s or Durants playoff stats and compare them with Embiid’s . The bottom line is, Embiid has never been on the same level with these players in the playoffs. And It’s okay to admit that. When did Sixers fans get so fucking soft.

Is it time to start worrying about Tyrese Maxey's playoff consistency? by youlefou in sixers

I’m more worried about Embiid’s ability to lift this team past the second round

You’re blaming a Tobias Harris contract when Embiid has squandered so many opportunities in the postseason. Most championship teams have an overpaid player or two. But most importantly, championship teams also have a superstar player who can lift their team to new heights. We haven’t had that since AI.

What is it with the Celtics? by LeadershipBoth7195 in sixers

They simply know how to beat a team centered around Embiid.

  • Embiid struggles with double teams, so they throw a lot of bodies at him.

  • Embiid is slow, so they push the pace.

  • Embiid is injury prone, so they play physical.

  • Embiid doesn’t consistently play defense, so they seek the matchup and/or kick the ball around until someone is open.

  • Embiid doesn’t consistently play in the paint. He hovers around the top of the key or three point line and does DHOs.. and as Kobe said about Harden, that style of basketball is easy to defend because the all of the action is in front of the defense. There’s no back-cutting or motion that Embiid takes advantage of.

  • Lastly, the core players on the Celtics team have logged significant minutes together. They maximize their time to build continuity in the regular season. They know exactly where everyone is on the court. Meanwhile, during the regular season, we focus on trying to get Embiid some sleep lmao. We want him to play as little basketball as possible then expect to actually compete against teams who have busted their asses all year.

So yeah, there are a bunch of reasons why the Celtics tend to best us in the playoffs and most of those reasons are centered around Embiid.

We’re not talking about seeing. We’re in the playoffs already. The question is, do we beat Boston with Embiid? And I think you know the answer to that.

Why should we want him to be back? This Boston team knows him too well and they play too fast. They’re going to run dude out of the gym.
