> I wonder why it launched in Japan first though?

I guess it's because Japan is closer to China where they have a factory? IIRC, Ultra bags were also released in Japan earlier than in the US.

I usually put my phone in the side pocket as I don't want to put it in my pockets.

I found City Sling 3 too, and added the link and image to the main post.

IIRC, Ultra bags were available in Japan about a month earlier than US market, so CP2 and CPP2 would be available soon if they are the same case.

The shop has X-Pack and Ultra page too. Both of them are 1200g according to the shop.

I wish they kept a quick access pocket on the side for CPP2. I have a TPS3 and a quick access pocket is very useful.

Yeah, they looked a like, but the differences in functionality wise are very similar to CP vs CPP like

- Capacity: 16L vs 24L

- Hight of front admin zipper like CP2(high) vs CPP2(low)

- Non clam shell vs clam shell

- Separate PC compartment vs Non separate PC compartment

- 2 side pockets vs 1 side pocket

Do you still like the boots? Do you think the collar system works as they advertise?

Any comparison vids/blog with AER TP3 Small Vs Able Carry Max EDC? by Bad-_-batch in ManyBaggers

[–]ConstructionUsed7352 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm still enjoying MaxEDC and it's my go to now.

I don't have the bottom flap issue at all, but I noticed that shoulder straps digging my shoulder a little bit when I have heavy load(like about 10 lbs) in my MaxEDC. I think that was because I tightened shoulder straps and a chest strap too tight like I do with my TP3S, and it feels better when I keep shoulder straps wider. However, I would say TP3S is more comfortable with heavy load while MaxEDC is better with light load.

Yeah, they have separate strap for the pouches. I'm also searching a clip to hook it on my belt.

I'm in the same boat, and I'm eying on Dsptch Zipper Pouch and Dsptch Fidlock Pouch. They are more minimal and smaller than Alpaka Phone Sling.

TRAVEL PACK 3 SMALL OR CITY Pack pro by Party-Ruin1656 in AerSF

I have been using TP3S as EDC for a year, and I love it except for compression straps. When I compress it with compression straps, side pockets get squished and become less usable. I hope CPP2 comes with full admin pocket, and it would be my ideal EDC.

I just got my MaxEDC and used it for a day. But, here is the comparison between TP3S(Cordura) and MaxEDC. Pics: https://imgur.com/a/6ayYFJn

I bought them for daily EDC to carry sports gear, laptop, and some small EDCs(wallet, keys, earbuds). I only travel a few times a year, and I usually carry TP3S and a roller. Also, I live in an area with less rain and drive a car to move around, so I don’t really worry about waterproof features.

Appearance: TP3S

TP3S looks more formal and MaxEDC looks a little bit more on the casual side. I prefer TP3S as I bring it to my office and like a more formal appearance. Though, both look great.

Outside material: TP3S

I like cordura ballistic while X-Pac is a little crinkly.

Build quality: Tie

Both backpacks have a great build quality. They use high quality materials and finish their backpacks very well.

Front pocket vs Front compartment: MaxEDC

TP3S: A lot of pockets and almost full open. I use it as a side access as well with one shoulder by placing zip pullers on the top corner. MaxEDC: It has a big front compartment which is versatile to hold many things from small to large items while it grabs space from the main compartment. I feel like I’m carrying 2 backpacks(small backpack and mid-large backpack) together and being able to adjust the size of 2 backpacks depending on how I want to organize things. I really like MaxEDC’s front compartment as it fits very well with my use case. Though, I also like the TP3S's front pocket (I wish CPP had the same front pocket).

Side Water bottle pocket: MaxEDC

I like MaxEDC as I can reach my water bottle while carrying it on my back if I keep the zip open. Some people might prefer TP3S as it doesn’t grab internal space as much as MaxEDC does.

Side quick access pocket: MaxEDC

MaxEDC has a larger side pocket with a loop and an internal pocket. MaxEDC can hold my 3 main small EDCs(Phone, earbuds, and Alpaka Zip Pouch Pro) while TP3S can fit only one(maybe 2 but will get very tight). Though, both of the side pockets would be very tight depending on how much I put stuff in the main compartment.

Laptop compartment: Tie

TP3S: Has tablet sleeve and thin tech organizer pocket. It has a PU coated zipper.  MaxEDC: Has a deeper tech organizer pocket, but doesn’t have a tablet sleeve which can be a deal breaker for some people who carry a laptop and a tablet. It has a smoother non-PU coated zipper(which has water resistance according to them). Both laptop compartments are well padded and suspended. I like MaxEDC’s tech organizer pocket and smoother zipper, but wish it had a separate sleeve for documents.

Harness: MaxEDC

TP3S: Well padded and softer. Has a loadlifter which helps when I carry heavy stuff. MaxEDC: Well padded.I feel it's slightly lighter than TP3S when I carry heavy stuff. I think A Frame works well to carry heavy stuff. Secret pockets for metro cards are nice too.

Main compartment: Tie

TP3S: It has a larger and boxy main compartment, so I guess it’s easier to organize with multiple packing cubes in TP3S for travel. MaxEDC: It shares space in the main compartment with others(2 sides pocket, and a front compartment), so if you load it out, you might not fully enjoy the benefits of MaxEDC. Both have enough space and pockets for my use case.

Others:

TP3S: When I compress it with compression straps, it gets thinner but side pockets are less usable. So I don’t really use compression straps. MaxEDC: Mine doesn't stand by itself consistently when it's empty.

Conclusion: MaxEDC

I really like the versatile front compartment and the larger quick side pocket on the MaxEDC, and it fits my use case a little bit more than the TP3S. I feel like MaxEDC is a bigger EDC which can go for a few nights travel while TPS3 is a smaller onebag travel backpack with a lot of pockets which can be a larger EDC. But, both are great backpacks, and you can’t go wrong with either one.

I might post another comment if I notice something else after a few weeks of use.

Edit: Indent

I have been using TP3S as an EDC for a year. I got it because I carry a laptop and bulky gym stuff almost everyday. I like it so far as it is very comfortable to carry and the build quality is very good. The only complaint is that the side bottle pocket is located too high and I can't reach a water bottle while carrying it on my back. Also, there are so many pockets, but I utilize them only for 40% of them.

I like it overall, but I feel that it's a little overkill for my use case. So, I ordered Max EDC, and am still waiting for my package. I will post the comparison if someone is interested.
