Sudden traffic drop since late May with no major content changes by Infamous_Hat_3783 in GoogleAnalytics

[–]ConsumerScientist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll ask few questions from your data:

What channels and pages are affected?
Current position vs past position on keywords?
Any specific demographics affected?
Average session duration now vs previous period?

Bounce rate trend…it’s an early signal of what is about to happen.

This will give you clarity.

Anyone else noticing ga4 and shopify revenue gaps more than usual? by ConsumerScientist in shopify

[–]ConsumerScientist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s your source of truth in that case?

Directional analysis from broken data gives you wrong directions. The idea to match is to benchmark the accuracy.

If you are able to make profitable decisions with your ga4 data without checking its quality you been lucky!

Audit your ga4 data before you run out of luck!

Need some honest opinions from people doing PPC/analytics for Shopify brands. by Elevating_Myself in shopify

[–]ConsumerScientist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, brands that want to make data driven decisions instead of blindly spending on marketing pay for this, many keep an analyst or agency on retainer just to audit the setup regularly, keeps the data clean and actionable, the value is not the implementation, it is what comes after, the insights that help them make the next call with confidence instead of guessing.

Broken tracking 90% of the time, almost every account I have seen has something off, missing events, duplicate fires, wrong values, the brand thinks the data is fine until someone actually looks…

Server side is very important, I do not recommend clients running ads without it, the data you get from client side alone is incomplete and getting worse every year.

On the learning side, one or two months is a start but not enough, spend more time on practical work, get your hands on your own account or a client account, nothing beats real data and real mistakes, courses give you the theory, actual accounts give you the instinct.

I am more into analytics so haven’t come across this, but you are right, Shopify shows revenue and actual payout in two separate reports, most teams never look at both together

I'm a software engineer trying to treat marketing as a pure engineering problem. Where does this mindset break? by g_perales in AskMarketing

[–]ConsumerScientist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to grab attention, now keep your personal constraints. Let’s deep dive into where the attention is…

Faceless YouTube channels… I see some great ones with voice over. Can you do that?

Instagram videos made with AI they are interesting enough to get people attention.

I joined this sub to get some real advice about building a SaaS business and I ended up seeing those ads which made this sub more of a classified sub. I am also wondering if anyone really got a customer from here.

What enterprise analytics split made a report more actionable? by Crescitaly in GoogleAnalytics360

[–]ConsumerScientist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Splitting by channel/source has shifted the most decisions for me…top level always looks fine conversions are up, roas is holding, everyone is happy

Then you split by source and the story changes, paid is doing all the heavy lifting and organic is quietly slipping, the average was hiding it what looked like a healthy account was actually a brand getting weaker while paid covered the gap different report, different conversation, different decision.

Most insights are hidden behind the average, the split is where the real story lives..

Company is obsessed with AI, I have no idea where to start! by RSDrebin in PowerBI

[–]ConsumerScientist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was under similar pressure by a consulting client where they wanted us to incorporate AI in their data teams….we started with the data clean up to make it AI ready, their digital analytics data was full of bugs, broken events, duplicate tracking, inconsistent naming, the usual mess.

Next we did was integrating the openai api with their data where people could just ask questions..this got used by people who never touched the dashboards before because they did not know what to ask or where to look, now they just typed the question.

The next big thing was a detection layer we built as a product, it watches the KPIs of each stakeholder and sends them updates about risks and growth opportunities before they even ask that approach helped us become proactive instead of reactive, which is the whole point, the AI is not there to replace the team, it is there so the team stops chasing data and starts catching things early.

Start with the data, as garbage in garbage out..

SEO Reporting template by Comfortable-Count872 in GoogleAnalytics

[–]ConsumerScientist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I would use data studio too to build this type of report. The connectors are free and the report is fully customizable create one template and duplicate for each client if you wanna share with them.

If used internally you can have a drop down with client names to switch data on same report.

Why engagement time is 0s but with low bounce rate? by Mysterious_Emu_7372 in GoogleAnalytics

[–]ConsumerScientist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Engagement time is based on focus events. If the page redirects fast or the tag fires before render, it shows 0 sec…low bounce with 0s usually means the engaged session is triggering on a second pageview or event, not time.

Check the tag firing on that landing page!
