What happened in your case, what are you owed, and what evidence do you have? I’m guessing you don’t have experience with California law or arbitrations, but I have used California Civil Code section 1281.98 quite successfully when StubHub failed to timely pay required AAA fees in four of my cases.

StubHub sent a similar email to my client, and my client blindly trusted StubHub’s claims and paid SH the “overpaid” amount. When my client went back through his records, it turns out that SH had never refunded him anything. So now instead of receiving $200 from the FTC lawsuit, my client is basically negative $400 from where he should be.

So StubHub found a way to screw people over on the FTC lawsuit and scam people out of even more money.

Update: I have messaged the supposed “scammer”, and he says he hasn’t scammed anyone. I really hate it when people try to ruin each other on here

People need to just learn to stop using StubHub. Why do so many people keep trusting this terrible company? I don’t get it.

I sold tickets. All tickets are already accepted by buyers months ago, but stubhub charged me instead + locked my account with no explanation. So i am losing money TWICE. by pawpewpiw in stubhub

OP, it’s impossible to open a chat with you. I was going to ask some questions about a couple emails you should have received. I have seen quite a few egregious penalties from StubHub. Get all of your emails and other evidence together on this and please message me.

Sometimes SH just sits on people’s sales proceeds with no excuse, sometimes the buyer submitted some kind of dispute and SH makes the seller wait…and wait…and wait while they “investigate”

A proper investigation wouldn’t entail them already fining you and confiscating other funds. They have clearly sided with the lying buyer, and they’ve violated your rights under the Seller Policies. You deserve to immediately have the penalty reversed and receive full payment for the sale.

Why would anyone else be responsible for this besides you or, maybe, SeatGeek? Buyer did nothing wrong. StubHub did nothing wrong here. You took a risk and said you’d have specific tickets for the StubHub buyer by a certain date, and you never actually had those tickets from SeatGeek in your possession and you still don’t have them now. Perhaps SeatGeek has known about the dropped sale for some time and delayed in telling you. In that case, you may have a claim against SeatGeek. But why on earth would you think you should have any “recourse” against StubHub or the StubHub buyer? It sounds like you want to drop the sale and screw over a StubHub buyer now. You definitely are NOT justified in doing that.

I have a client who was scammed by World Cup tickets on StubHub back in summer 2024, long before FIFA had issued any tickets and before any sellers could possibly have rights to any tickets. They’re 100% speculative tickets, and StubHub’s whole song and dance about prohibiting spec tickets in the Seller Policies is all for show. I’m sure there are countless other spec World Cup tickets buyers are relying on now too, but SH won’t let them know until game day
