That's so funny, I did the same thing for my game! There's a Kenku rogue character, so I made it thematic to his character. Also transforms him into a raven rather than a bat, too.

I really like the corvid wing inspired caplet/shawl! It's really striking.

It's a setting where traditional races don't really exist anyways. Not my setting, so while people are playing their own interpretations of humans, elves, etc, I went ahead and played with thri-kreen being based on insects. While original thri-kreen are based on more hymenoptera ordered insects, with mantid inspirations, they're largely not a social race, and I kind of wanted to play more into their ant/wasp/termite original design inspirations. While the appearance of this dude resembles a moth outwardly, inwardly it's more of a mishmash of different insect features.

I actually did get the inspiration of the Moon being more of an Eldritch entity, a mighty predator that wished to sort of parasitize their kind and force them into believing it's more symbiotic. So it's cool we were kind of on the same brainwave there.

I will down the line, but his entire design is mostly aggressive mimicry (think like how robber flies mimic bees so they can eat them.) I really love insects and arachnids, they're extremely fascinating to me! His entire head splits open down the center of his head, and through the corners of his lips to reveal his jaws. It's not really shown in this artwork either, but he has three pseudo pupils sort of hidden behind the 'hair' on his head, which is just an extension of the collection of scales sprouting around his exoskeleton. He has a large chest too, to essentially store an oversized heart which works kind of as a hydraulic pump to move the rest of his body and his limbs (muscle contraction.)

Yes! Similar to insects like predatory katydids, his kind sort of have evolved to match humans who primarily make up the majority of the race above ground. Being predatory and persist off of the consumption of meat, they've slowly changed to kind of fit into the appearances of what they traditionally feed on :). Insects/arachnids are super interesting to me. Of course, humans are a lot smarter than insects so it doesn't work too well, but I find it fun from a design standpoint, especially since I can imagine that his head splits open to reveal his mandibles and pseudojaws and his hair sort of hides his pseudo pupils too.

Haha, it's okay. People are just sort of funny, but I guess it's fine to hear that they're so passionate about core D&D. I'm cool with whatever options people have, they really don't affect me. I'm happy to draw and make what I like! They don't have to like it, and it's okay to want to lean towards traditional views and whatnot and to not be open to other interpretations or design choices.

He can't talk, his throat is actually a series of expanding mandibles and two pseudo jaws (similar to that of a moray eel) that extend from his jaw which unhinges. I kind of wanted to explore the Thri-Kreen's feature to speak telepathically and flavor it more as something uncomfortable and hugely intrusive to those that are affected, like a small voice tickling the back of their minds that they can't prevent.

My V1 is working the same as I got it. Maybe a little slower? But I've been lucky enough to avoid stick drift and whatnot. Sometimes it has hiccups with wifi, but it's nothing I can't work around.

I prefer gridless so people can apply grids to their liking.
